As Curses! is a brand new show I went not knowing what to expect.

The first preview started 15 minutes late due to technical problems and when the co-directors took to the stage they explained that many things had gone wrong and there hadnt been a dress rehearsal so the show was being done cold.

Considering all the problems the show went off without a hitch and all the cast were brilliant.

But of course I had gone because Phil was in it and I really enjoyed his performance as Julian, the son of Lord Canterville.  Julian is a really sweet character who has a stammer and Phil does play him really well.

I love Phil in musicals and this was no exception and the show gives him a chance to show off his voice lots as he sings on many of the songs both as solos, duets and ensemble pieces and they rang from ballads to up tempo songs.  And he even gets to show off his dancing skills on some of the songs.

Phil is listed in the programme as playing acoustic guitar and flute but you dont get to see him play these and I dont know which songs it was on.

The show was extremely funny with lots of one liners and I found myself crying with laughter at some points.

It is a show that I really enjoyed and one I would recommend people seeing.
