The Fairy Godmothers string quartet musical accompanists, performing anything from calypso to classical, add to the onstage fun of the comedy script.

This years pantomime displays a radical change of look from cartoon to stylish upmarket icy Victoriana, as Bob Carlton ratchets up the production values another couple of notches. All of which Nick Lashbrooks energetic, rollerskating Buttons, Steve Edwins Salmonella and Chris MacDonnells Diphtheria immediately bring straight back down to Romford Market.

Stuart Organs fruity-voiced Baron is father of Catherine Hamiltons smiley, charming Cinderella. Long, tall Salmonella and short, fat Diphtheria have a whale of a hilarious time being ugly and nasty while riding mauve and pink emus and hectically disco dancing.

Musical director, lyricist and composer Carol Slomans thigh-slapping Dandini shows off some of the longest legs in the business as constant companion to Naomi Lee Schulkes Prince Charming, showing hallmarks of the House of Windsor scion.

Allison Harding is an intelligent, bespectacled trainee Fairy. Mark Walterss designs are gorgeous, enhanced by Matthew Eaglands great lighting. The costume team and set builders thoroughly deserve congratulations for this one.

Not only great fun, this Cinderella has the best ever, most beautiful transformation Ive seen in 62 years of panto watching.
