I saw Aladdin the other night and I have to say that I was disappointed with it.  Id booked to see Phil Reed but for much of the performance he isnt on stage.

Theres no doubt that his musical abilities are well used as he plays guitar, bass, sax, banjo and flute but as for anything else then he is seriously under used.

I know that he was only billed as being in the band but I did at least expect him to have the opportunity to do backing vocals on the songs but he wasnt a waste in my opinion.

The costumes he had to wear made him look stupid and he didnt look at all comfortable, in fact there were times when he looked bored and not at all interested in what was going on.

As for the panto in general, many of the jokes were ones that had been told in last years panto, Sleeping Beauty.  In my opinion Aladdin is much weaker and I felt that down as I did expect great things from it.

On the positive side, Phil does give a good performance playing instruments and it is good to see him playing so many in the panto.

If youre a fan of Phils and you are going to see him then you may be slightly disappointed by the amount of time he is on stage but Im sure that fans will be pleased to see him no matter what.
