Pilgrims for Peace
Joins Global Day of Action Calling for
End To War and Occupation of Iraq
On
March 20, exactly a year after the US-led invasion of Iraq, PILGRIMS
FOR PEACE stands in solidarity with all the peace advocates worldwide
in demanding for the immediate end to the immoral and illegal
occupation of Iraq.
The
US and its allies have no moral ground whatsoever to remain in Iraq.
It was an unjustifiable invasion then, it is still unjustifiable now.
We
therefore join the worldwide condemnation of continuing war and
occupation of Iraq.
It
is time for all the governments who support this occupation to cede to
the worldwide clamor for peace and pull-out their troops. We also call
on the Philippine government to stop its support to this occupation
that has resulted to the deaths of thousands of innocent civilians
including women and children.
As
an inter-faith and multi-sectoral network of peace advocates in the
Philippines, we lend our voice to the clamor for peace and respect for
the will of the Iraqi people to discern their future as a people. We
wish for them the freedom to trek their path as a nation on their own,
without the interference of invaders.
We
believe that the continuing US-UK occupation of Iraq is an affront to
God’s gift of life aside from the fact that it is against the will of
millions of people around the world.
Much
blood has been spilt already in the name of the US’ “war on terror”,
and the continuing occupation of Iraq will further spell doom on the
Iraqi people. The so-called threat of “weapons of mass destruction”
which the US arrogantly used to push its war of aggression is now
universally panned.
LET THERE BE PEACE!
END US OCCUPATION OF IRAQ NOW! |
