Epistemology is the study of Knowledge (theories of knowledge). It seeks to address such questions as: Can we have knowledge? Do we have knowledge? If so, can we know that we have knowledge?
Ever since Descartes first introduced his highly intelligle method of doubt, philosophers
have been asking these questions. Most of its contemporary ideas stem directly from work done in the late sixties and into the eighties by such prominent minds as: Alvin Goldman, Barry Stroud, Keith Lehrer, Laurence Bonjour, Robert Audi, . . . . . .
It is the most contemporary and state of the art field within philosophy today. |
