In retrospect, it has been determined that the subject matter of this essay was too narrow, so the essay has been removed. A new essay covering the development of an American "Indian" policy from the landing of the first English colonists to the forced exodus of a large component of the Five Civilized Tribes from from the Southeast will replace it. That essay which will cover the Massachusetts Bay and Tidewater massacres, the Pequot War, the death of Sassamon and King Philip's War, the French and Indian Wars, the Revolutionary War, the First Creek War, and the War of 1812 and Second Creek War, will be put into place within the coming year.
