Subsequent to the opening chapter, which takes place beyond the space/time continuum, in a region known as No-Time, the main character, Samuel Sassodoro, is born into this world.
Samuel possesses a certain faculty for bringing together the opposing forces of Good and Evil that beleaguer mankind; a potential for moving towards a new rung on the ladder of psychic evolution.
Yet Evil, the Hierarchy of the Left, would oppose any such change.
A confrontation between the powers of Light and Darkness is inevitable, as the minions of Yahweh are sworn to protect mankind from their age-old adversaries. And so Samuel becomes the object of a celestial tug of war, with Gabriel, leader by proxy of the forces of Heaven, attempting to thwart Beelzebub’s, Archdemon par excellence, plans to corrupt the unwitting Samuel.
To make matters worst, Satan, an arrogant, intransient master, assured of the infallibility of his intellect, vows to awaken an entity best left well alone.
Resurrected, The Whore of Babylon, sinister and terrible, a being of unfathomable power, walks the Earth once more.
Now the struggle for dominion over Samuel's immortal soul takes a new and deadly turn. For the woman in his life, the gypsy Dolabras, is none other than an unwilling host to The Whore.
Sinking ever deeper into a quagmire of hopelessness and insidious decadence, Samuel constructs a personal philosophy which succinct tenet expresses his contempt and hatred for the rest of humanity. Convinced of his moral superiority, he isolates himself, and so plays into the hands of the very thing he would have done well to eschew.
From the onset of this story to its conclusion, Samuel is monitored by benign entities superordinate to the Hierarchies of the Left and Right, evil and good. These able helpers, known as The Elect, are the guardians and custodians of the House of Souls, the gathering place for all souls newly liberated from the oppression of bondage in the flesh. Bound by the Unspoken Law, The Elect may not interpose themselves between Evil’s ambitions and the unknowing mortal prey that is man. However, through the medium of dreams and visions, The Elect can exert beneficial influence on those receptive few capable of interpreting the symbolic message.
Each and every mortal is assigned two Elect, a male and a female. Solomon, the erstwhile King of Israel, and Flora, twin sister to Sophia, who represents the hidden, positive counterpart to The Whore, stand unsleeping watch over their chosen ward, Samuel.
Fortunately for Samuel, The Elect are most vigilant where he is concerned, being well aware of the key role he is to play in shaping the destiny of mankind.
With the entry of The Whore into the supernatural contest over Samuel’s soul, even The Elect, supreme in the realm of No-Time, are rendered ineffectual.
The Whore’s fell designs on Samuel’s already much battered soul have the most severe repercussions for mankind in general: Befallen by plague, famine and ‘natural’ disasters, nations are rent by war, terrorism and greed. It is against this bleak backdrop that Samuel, brought back from the brink by an unlikely friend, must find within himself the integrity and courage to confront The Whore and Her monstrous ally, The Antichrist.
When all seems lost, help arrives from a totally unexpected quarter.
This is a tale of human frailty and its conscious recognition, whereby all is possible, and nothing is inconceivable.
