The Process

1.      Make a phenomenological paper on love using Husserl’s phenomenological method. Click the link to view a phenomenological paper.

2.      Your paper must begin by discussing (epoche) preconceptions on love. You must not affirm nor negate any of the ideas mention. You just describe them. Click the links below to see the different concepts of love.

3.      After collating your concepts of love, make a synthesis (eidetic reduction) that can encompass all the preconceptions mentioned.

4.      Recollect and describe love based on how you have experienced it (transcendental reduction). This recollection is not only limited to any intimate relationships that you had. When we speak of phenomenology of love we are referring to a relationship between two persons (I and thou/Thou).

5.      Discuss your paper with your group mates. Make a contrast among your experiences of the phenomenon. Focus on the similarities and differences of your experiences. Synthesize your answers by completing the sentences on the worksheet provided.

6.      Complete the sentence below by sharing all your ideas about love. Each member will put a check on the box if his ideas about love correspond to the sentences. Count the number of checks. The most number of checks will be the theme of your presentation.
