| March 11, 2002 Funny things happen. My roommate Lauriey has a student who just bought a new car. Guess what she did with her old car? Yup, she gave it to Lauriey and me. GAVE. With insurance paid until January. This is rather surprising yet extremely cool. We tested it out on Friday night and went out for dinner in the nex town over, which was a welcome change from the same old restaurants here in Sao Joao. Then yesterday (Sunday), we headed up into the mountains for a picnic lunch, right on the top of this magnificient look-out mountain. Of course, it was so foggy that we could hardly see anything, but it was still nice to drive around. It's an '87 Austin Montego with lots of 'personality'. Whirring fanbelts, dents, interesting smells, wipers that jerk and sometimes go the wrong way (you figure it out), dirty.... We love it! No other news for now. Keep well. Phil |
