Welcome to the end of an era. Yours truly is, as we speak, packing for his flight home to Canada tomorrow, ending a period of 14 months spend (mostly) in Portugal and Spain.  I've met a lot of people, learned two languages, forgotten one of them (well, gotten really bad, anyway), biked a lot of kilometers, and learned a lot.  Not sure what I learned (or I just don't want to take the time to write about it), but I know it was a lot!  The next era starts tomorrow, or probably the next day, to be realistic and allow the jet lag to pass by.  I hope to see a lot of you very soon (not that anybody really reads this diary - shame on you all!).  I'm starting to have 'saudades' of some of the things here in Portugal (that means I'm going to miss some things), like my friends and my bike team and the ocean and the mountains and the food.  Good things are hopefully to come, though, back in Canada, as I rediscover my old friends and beat a new path.  If you have any brilliant ideas about what that path should be, please tell me!

Ciao for now,
Phil
Looking across the Atlantic towards home....

(actually, more towards Africa, but who cares, it's the imagery I'm going for!)
