PhilMAK Makes Its Debut In August 2006

August 2006 witnessed the official debut of PhilMAK as an international-grade film production company. Being a Philippine firm, PhilMAK experienced its share of financial and social challenges in its development. Not to mention tons of criticism from local publications and critics. Breaking away from the stereotypical concepts of Philippine cinema and venturing in authenticity-oriented projects, PhilMAK built its image as a fresh, international-grade film production firm. Spearheaded by its new productions such as "Salamin", "Bulalakaw" and "Trespass", PhilMAK is set to climb the movie production industry and rival leading international film production firms.

Philmak is a film production company that takes Philippine media production to a whole new level with innovative stories and ideas. It produces international-grade films with excellent cinematography and sounds. PhilMAK is not only flexible in producing movies of varying genres, but is also capable in television and advertisement production.

Probably the first thing asked about the history of a compny is "Where did the name come from?" PhilMAK was founded by three design and arts students from De La Salle - College of Saint Benilde. Their initials, M, A and K were used. With a little touch of Philippine trademark, they came up with PhilMAK. PhilMAK focuses on film production in different genres and also television shows and advertisements. The founders came up with this particular concept because they knew that until now, the Philippine movie industry lacks a production company that can compete with international firms.

Another question might probably be about PhilMAK's logo. The logo was created by two of the founders, namely, Matthew Manzo and Angeles Martinez. Using the image of a film reel, and adding a touch of blue and red hues, a logo was created that best describes a Philippine film company.

Just as a thesis has a "thesis statement", a company must also have its slogan or tag line. This special task was undertaken by Kristine Mutuc, one of the three founders of PhilMAK. The tag line, "Makers of Authentic Philippine Movies" perfectly described what PhilMAK is all about.

As an active part of the community, we help in the strengthening of moral and intellectual faculties of society. We actively anticipate and respond to individual, industry, and societal needs by offering innovative, relevant and responsible programs.
