Diagnosis of the winning chassis in the
MEV / Penland Nationals

The winning chassis was sent to EWH Motorworks for a diagnosis. Here are the findings.

Chassis: Originally a stock TJet, it has soldered brush springs (for more tension) and an AFX crown gear.
Gearplate: Originally a Tuff Ones gearplate, it has a 2 ohm per pole balanced green wire armature with the pinion soldered to the armature shaft. The stock Tuff Ones gearing remains in place on the cluster shaft. (14t lower cluster shaft gear)
Brushes: Appear to be Wild Ones flat silver brushes.
Weights: Lead weight in cavity behind front axle.
Tires: Stock (standard Aurora TJet) axles, hubs and rubber tires.
Magnets: Standard Super II (blue and yellow) with dimples, with the front magnet (yellow) being a 310 on my matcher and the blue (rear) magnet measuring 303.
Dyno Readings: [email protected], pegs the meter at 18.5v. (spins the dyno past 1000)...... it's probably hitting 1050-1150 on 18.5v. If it's hitting 1100, then it will go over 12.6 >real< MPH on 18.5v..... how many volts were you giving it?
Observations: The gearplate and idler are very nearly worn out, as are the brushes. The idler has worn a circle in the gearplate about 1/4 the thickness of the idler gear. The chassis seems fairly new aside from the solder "stiffening". The motor/chassis gets extremely hot very quickly when powered up.
