The AutoPlay feature can be frustrating. When the wrong program launches to play information on a disc, you feel like you have little control. Sometimes programs will automatically install on your system when you insert a disk, like recently with the Sony Spyware/Rootkit. Fortunately, you can change AutoPlay settings.

Click Start>>My Computer. Right-click your drive and select Properties. Select the AutoPlay tab. In the drop-down box, select the type of file for which you'd like to specify options.

Now you have a couple of options. First, you can select "Prompt me each time to choose an action." When you insert a disk, you'll get a choice of programs. Or, you can click "Select an action to perform." Then you can specify a program in the box below. After you make your choices, click Apply>>OK.
