The Carinal Rules
                                                         Individuality
All humans are individuals, free to do as they choose, believe what they will, and think how they wish, being limited only in harming others.

Reason
All ideas, doctrine, beliefs, opinions, histories, hypotheses, theories, and doggma are not equal, and their validity is guaged by Occam's Razor, the rules of evidence, the rules of argumentation, and the rules of logic.  Strong claims require strong evidence, and all claims to knowledge are subject to criticism and skepticism until their validity is demonstrated.

Virtue
Virtue is good, and can be used by individuals to live greatly, and help others live better. True virtues and morals are the result of objective observations of cause and effect, and are not prescribed by doctrine or law.  Each individual has the choice to progress or repress any virtue valued by others or himself, and should not by force be subject to the morals of any society or government in the form of non-objective laws or otherwise.
There is truly no philosophy, organization, or doctrine that I fully agree or disagree with.  However, I find that my personal beliefs closely parallel Secular Humanism.  I do call myself a Secualr Humanist.  <<Click here to see the Affirmations of Humanism>>
Political
1) Free Speech, The First Ammendment, is extremely important.  I don't believe in censoring anything.  Whether it be reigious material, propaganda, music, the media, art, iconography, literature, or any other form of self expresion.  This includes radio broadcasts and television.

2) Separation of Church and State is also very important.  This is a country of Liberty, not mob rule.  This is a Democracy, not a Theocracy.  Churches can see to their own business as they see fit, the government will do it's job without religious opinion. Do not mix the two.

3) Education should be available to all children and youth, whether public or private.  Education should be provided by the government to all children.  An educated nation is a strong nation.

4) People should not be controlled with force.  Any time an individual is being controlled by force, it should be because that individual used force first.

5) People have the right to bear arms, but not weapons of mass destruction.  The right of the people to keeps arms should not be infringed in any way for any type of personal armament.

6) Due process is a necessity in any civilized society.

7) People have the liberty of deciding and making their own sexual and reproductive decisions, including the decision to engage in sexual congress, abort, use birth control, under whatever sexual orientation they have.

8) People shoud not be denied the right to marry if they so choose.  The state should stay out of people's decisions to marry.  Gay couples should be allowed to marry as well.

9) Homo Sapiens evolved from earlier hominids, which evolved from earlier prmates, which evolved from early mammals, which evolved from reptiles, which evolved from amphibians, which evolved from fish, which evolved from advanced multicelllar life, which evolved from cingle celled life, which evolved from complex organic self replicating molecules.  In essence, we evolved.  (As things have been doing since Earth formed about 5 billion years ago, which itself formed about 10 billion years after the big bang).  The evidence for this is clear and abundant, and should be tought in schools.  creationism is religious doctrine and should not be taught in schools.

10) Humans are animals, and a part of nature.

11) In such a hugely populated resource intensive world, warnings from credible scientists and scientific studies about potential hazards in the environment should be heeded.  (They should not, however, remain untested and unchallenged).

12) Religion is a vestigial component of culture and society.  It's early purpose was to try to explain the unexplainable in the early world, and was used to maintain oreder by the state.  It is no longer necessary.  Especially in government, where irrational laws may be passed in accordance with said ancient doctrine.

13) Critical Thinking is one of the most vital traits that should be tought to all individuals.  Rationality is important to humanity.  This includes thinking objectively in all levels of social contact and government and private policy.

14) More to come, when I get back to this page and think of some more items to jot down...
