Caterham racing at
Bahrain International Circuit
Friday 19th May 2006.  After being let down in my efforts to get the Mustang on to the Bahrain Grand Prix circuit, I was just beginning to think I'd be better off taking up golf when this happened...
Gavin phones Sim to say that Ben (who owns & races a Caterham - lucky bugger!) has heard we can hire them out for a track day this coming weekend.

Gav (a fellow petrol head) is getting wide eyed and together, before wives can say words like 'sensible, expensive' or 'mortgage' he's done the deed.  The phone call has been made and Ayrton Baldwin along with Stirling Hunter are on their way to the same track the Schumacher
et al were hammering around just a few weeks earlier...
Gav tries to look cool.  But reality is dawning; we've never sat in a caterham before, we don't know our way around this track and there are lots of people here who look very serious in even more serious cars.

Bringing this to play with Caterhams was like bringing a machine gun to a fist fight!
It looked sensational, it sounded better, but best of all, when he changed down a gear while pushing hard, an enormous flame shot out of the exhausts and scared the life out of the drivers following!!!!!

At last our time comes.
Gav goes for 'Nutter yellow' and I opt for 'British Racing Green' by jove!

My turn at last.  Can you see the silly grin???
It was a handfull of 10 minute sessions to start with. Then, as the day grew to a close I put in 45 minutes non stop, flat out, in 43 degrees of desert sun!  Hardly able to climb out, wringing wet and suffering heat exhaustion, I couldn't have been happier!
