Phil met the Newsboys when his former band, Drinkwater, opened for them. Drinkwater broke up shortly after, when a member decided to leave, and instead of finding a replacement, they decided to go their seperate ways. A little later the Newsboys bass player, Kevin Mills, left the Newsboys, and Peter Furler of the Newsboys heard about Drinkwater's break up and called Phil to ask if he knew had to play bass. Phil said Sure! (Even though he had never played bass in his life). A few days later Phil was on a plane to the USA trying to learn the bass parts for Newsboys songs. Phil wasn't the best bass player when he started out, actually Peter Furler said he was really bad, But now of course, he's awesome:-) He has put out 4 CDs with the Newsboys--Take Me To Your Leader, Step Up To The Microphone, Love Liberty Disco, and Shine the Hits. |
