| Places I've been... 48 of the 50 US states (its a long drive to Alaska and well Hawaii was a bit out of the way) My parents and I traveled a lot until I graduated high school. Then they kept taking trips to Florida 2-3 times a year. I don't feel left out though, I flew to....this lovely place without them. |

| However, my vacations with mom and dad were memorable and wonderful. One of the most memorable times was a trip out west where we stopped by the great salt lake in Utah. People from Utah may be saying, whats so great about that salty mudhole? Well, my memories of that lake were, a clear shallow lake with millions of baby seahorses, no bigger than a common mosquito. I remember that I had forgotten my sandals, the sand was extremely hot and dad had to carry me to the water's edge. Also, its a good thing they had public showers to wash off the seahorses in those hard to reach areas. ( Ew!) | ||||||||||||||
| On another trip out west, we lived in ohio, we went to Glacier National Park and Redwood National Park, go to this site to see National Parks. Dad had planned this one a long time and was anxious about this trip. We spent 2 weeks traveling to the New England states including Maine, stopped at home to do laundry, then spent about another 2 weeks along the west coast. What did an only child do on a long vacation? I was little then, so Barbie became my best friend, and the many sweet smelling Strawberry Shortcake dolls kept me company too. Uh oh telling my age. But honestly, I remembered everything and learned so much about history and science. The Boston Tea Party, the Salem witch trials, the lighthouses, then... Mt. St. Helens and volcanos, the Ice age and glaciers. When I went back to school that fall and my teacher taught us about the oregon trail, I had been to where it occurred, and saw historical sites. It was a great feeling. | ||||||||||||||

| You must get out and see the world, when a survey of people over 100 was given, only one question was asked, "What would you have done differently?". The majority of them said they would have taken more risks. | ||||||||||||||
| I currently reside in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. My first trip to Oz was to Perth, Western Australia and I was very overwhelmed by the sights and smells and weather...etc. Most of us "Yankees", as the aussies call us Americans, know that Ohio is inland and Lake Erie doesn't quite cut it for an ocean. So when the doors opened at the Perth airport to give me the first smells of native plantlife. I suddenly felt like I was on (no offense aussies) another planet. It was a strange dream. Back in my younger years, I watched "She-Ra" and the plantlife on She-Ra was fuzzy, purple, and pink. That was a lot like King's Park, my first destination. Fuzzy, bushy, pinkish plants with strange leaves. Then I went to a place called "Garden Island" a naval base and wildlife protection area. On tv and in zoos, I've seen your average kangaroo. On Garden island, and only in reserves, were little kangaroos, called Tammars, and they were nothing like I'd ever seen. I went in August, which was the end of aussie winter, no snow, just cold enough for a jacket. Also, I'm not allergic to anything here in the states, no medicine or anything, but when I got to Perth, I was allergic to something, either a laundry detergent or antiperspirant. So, be careful who you hug :o) The second trip however, to Brisbane/Mooloolaba, Queensland, I had no troubles at all. In fact, I met my in-laws for Christmas '99 and celebrated the millenium with them in the heat. I had the greatest time of my life. For those with a sweet tooth, beware the lamingtons! |
