The Bloomfield Family
Dorothy Bloomfield Hamilton Copeland was only 2 pounds when she was born near Thor, KY on 25 August 1915. She was so tiny her cradle was a showbox. When she laughed it was a belly shaking chuckle. Her hugs were the most sincere and affectionate. She could "can" anything, she canned jellies and jams, pickled cabbage, corn, and  beans, she canned tomatoes too. Her basement was lined with vegetables in jars. She loved songbirds and nature. She and grandpa always had a garden full of different vegetables. An amazing woman.

Grandma was a great seamstress. She altered clothes, made clothes for her children during the depression out of any material she could find. She made several quilts with dutchgirls and triangles. She made quilted pillows out of scraps. She also fed a small army nearly everyday of her life. We celebrated her birthday on Labor Day each year.
