This titanium-finished 43-inch analog projection television melds terrific picture quality with a sleek, upscale design. The 43P8341 uses a protective screen filter and Philips's own ImageMax technology to render sharp colors and noise-free images. ImageMax combines multiple stretch technologies, CTI, and tint correction, responding to signals by adjusting saturation and correction levels, while a technology called Multipoint Digital Convergence (MDC) automatically ensures color reproduction and crisply defined edges.
The 43P8341 uses a two-line digital comb filter, one of the most sophisticated types of filter. It improves the quality of incoming video signals to the set by better separating the signal into its basic qualities, chromanance and luminance. A comb filter works on signals transmitted via either standard composite video or RF connections (as with cable or older VCRs).
Dual-tuner picture-in-picture (PIP) lets you monitor one video source--such as a TV channel, the Internet, a videotape, videodisc, or video game--while watching another. Inputs include component-video inputs and side AV convenience connections (with S-video and composite-video as well as stereo analog audio jacks).
In the sound department, Philips imbues the set with 20 watts per channel, Incredible Surround (simulated surround sound from stereo speakers), and dbx hi-fi stereo.
