Shaw Merrinc has a little more of a history than some of the globic characters, because he is older than many by a few years. Shaw was born a human, but because of the Branford Projects, he became much more.
Shaw has had green skin and silver wings since he was twenty-one, when Branford Island was destroyed. 
His skin had permanently changed color as a result of exposure to the chemicals used to prevent tissue rejection. The musculature of Shaw's back had been augmented, including grafting of new muscles and tissues, to support the metal wings. After the phisical mutation, Shaw could fly.
Rex found the injured man on the banks of the Misa Sea and nursed Shaw back to health. When forming the Jordian National Rebellion Army, Rex decided to invite Shaw into the ranks, where the winged man soon became a general.
Shaw has wild yellow hair, a fiery right odd eye, and the ability to see very long distances, even in low light.
