Course Objectives and Description

This course is designed to provide an understanding of macroeconomic issues such as inflation, unemployment, business cycles and economic growth. Discussions and activities will be focused on the use of various macroeconomic models, and the debates surrounding the use of macroeconomic policy.

Students are expected to approach the study of macroeconomics in an active way, seeking not only to understand definitions and concepts, but to personally participate in the macroeconomic debate through discussion and application.

Grading

Students will be allowed to earn points through the following activities:

Final Exam up to 30 points

Midterm Exam up to 20 points

Quizzes up to 30 points (up to 10 quizzes at 3 points each.)

Portfolio up to 20 points

Tutorial Presentation up to 20 points

90 points are required for an A+

85 points are required for an A

80 points are required for an A-

77 points are required for a B+

73 points are required for a B

70 points are required for a B

67 points are required for a C+

63 points are required for a C

60 points are required for a C-

57 points are required for a D+

53 points are required for a D

50 points are required for a D-
