Day Two - To Fort Collins Colorado
Return to Links Page
Day Two has taken us to Fort Collins Colorado. Distance from Raton is only 267 miles give or take a little. The idea is to take it a little easier today after the longer ride yesterday. It gives both of us a chance to take in the scenery.
Before we hit Denver, we come across a Starbucks, so that was a good reason to pull over and rest the weary beehind....
On the north side of Denver on Hwy 25 there was a Harley dealership offering out free food and drinks... yeah a Harley dealership. It was probably the HOG group that sponsored it, but whatever, another good reason to stop.
We found our hotel early today around 2:00PM.... nice quiet afternoon before another long day tomorrow.
It was not such an early start this morning as we new the day was not a long one, however we were still on the road by 8:00am.
In comparision to yesterday the countryside did change dramatically.
It did not take long until we pulled over to put on extra clothes. Chloe finally got to wear her chaps, that helped keep us a little warmer. It is surprising how cool it gets when you ride in the valley's early in the morning.
As we rode on we came out of the mountains and rode beside them. So we had the Rocky's on one side and the open plains on the other.
The countryside is great, its not clear in these pics but the mountains in behind is an awsome sight.
For most of day two this was what we had to look at..... hey someone has to do it...
