The aim of Opportunities South Africa is to supply a fresh look at the industries of South Africa and give the local businessman a competitive edge. Opportunities SA also aim to give international businessmen a chance to view South Africa business as not just only a serious contender on the world market but also a market with diverse and practical business solutions.

Rationale

For this assignment I created the brand ‘Opportunities South Africa’. The function of this brand is to act as a vehicle to promote South African business in its various forms to the international market and so create a positive image of South African business.

I chose a more formal design style for the page due to the business content, most viewers of the page would be young international businessmen who wants instant and efficient access to relevant information. Although the design style is formal a more edgy and young feel is created through the use of the colour combinations, green, dark blue and purple.

The page is contained in a 800 x 600 area and displays all content is a central frame. This ensures that the viewer never has to scroll up and down to find the menu or other links.

The menu is a java applet which hides itself from view when not in use. To activate the menu the user simply hovers his cursor over the edge of the menu protruding from the left side of the screen. This will slide the menu back to a visible position until the user has made his selection and removed his cursor. If the users’ web browser does not enable him to view the java applet the static navigation bar at the bottom of the screen can be used to navigate the site with.

To the right side of the page is a info window which supply short extracts from other content within the page. This allows the user to quickly establish what other content is available on the site and can the easily browse to the content if he chooses to.
