THE LIFE STORY OF MY 1967 CAMARO CONVERTIBLE

AS TOLD TO ME BY ITS SECOND OWNER

1967 Camaro Convertible

My 1967 Camaro RS Convertible was built in the Norwood, Ohio plant in May of 1967. It was purchased by a man for his wife. His wife died a few years later and the Camaro sat unused in his garage. Someone was interested in purchasing the 327 cubic inch engine from the Camaro so the owner sold him the engine. The owner decided to use the Camaro as a trade in, at a local auto dealership in 1975, so he installed a 283 cubic inch Chevrolet engine into the car.

The second owner told me that he drove by the dealership on his way to work and he would see the Camaro sitting on their used car lot. One morning he saw the Camaro sitting on the used car lot with its wheels and tires missing. Someone had stolen the wheels and tires during the night. He decided to to stop at the dealership to see if they would give him a good deal on the Camaro, as it sat on their lot, without wheels and tires. He purchased the Camaro and drove it until the summer of 1978. The Camaro was stored from 1978 to the time I purchased it in 1995.

The second owner told me that he was selling the Camaro because his wife was insisting that the car had been in their garage long enough and that he should either fix it up or sell it. He had also purchased a complete 327 cubic inch replacement engine for the Camaro which he gave me when I purchased the car.

The following pages detail what I have done to the Camaro so far.
