About the Author
Tupac's writing doesn't follow a pattern. He just wasn't the type to follow rules, why should writing be different? Many of his works are free verse sparked by any emotion he felt at that particular time. Instead of writing certain words he drew it out. For example for "I" he would draw out the actual form of an eye.

Selections
The Rose That Grew From Concrete
Autobiograpical

Did you hear about that rose that grew from a crack
in the concrete
Proving nature's laws wrong it learned 2 walk
without having feet
Funny it seems but by keeping it's Dreams
it learned to Breathe fresh air
Long Live the rose that grew from concrete
when no one else even cared!

This is the introduction to Tupac's book. It gives off a feeling almost as if he wants to embark on this journey with you, and he's introducing himself. Along with this introduction comes a lesson, that anyone, black, white, polka dot, whatever, can do something great within God's greatest creation. Just put your mind to it, and you can do it.

In the Event of My Demise
Dedicated 2 Those Curious

In the event of my demise
when my heart can beat no more
I hope I die for a principle
or a belief that I had lived 4
I will die before my time
because I feel tha shadow's depth
so much I wanted 2 accomplish
before I reached my Death
I have come 2 grips with the possibility
and wiped the last tear from my eyes
I loved all those who were positive
in the event of my Demise!

Analyze
In this poem it seems as if Tupac is predicting whats to come. He doesn't just feel Death, he knows it's there and he's accepted it. "I hope I die for a principal or a belief that I had lived 4." suggests that he doesn't want to just die and be forgotten, he wants the recognition and rememberance of someone great. I think he achieved what he set out to do, even though he had a full life ahead of him.
