Summary
World War I a.k.a The Great War was ignited when the Archduke Ferdinand, heir to the Austria-Hungarian throne,  and his entire family was assasinated on June 28, 1914 by a Serbian terrorist group called the Black Hand. The Austria-Hungarian government preceded to give Serbia a severe ultimatum, thus causing Serbia to team up with their long time ally Russia and the two united countries declared war on Austria-Hungary. Germany, an ally of Austria-Hungary saw Russia's position as an act of way and declared war on them August 1st.

France, bound to an ally treaty with Russia also found itself at war with the Germans and Austria-Hungarians.

Britian due to a mutual agreement to defend France and neutral Belgium also hopped on the bandwagon and declared war on Germany on August 4.

America stayed neutral for two years before joining the war in 1917, they became an ally to France and Britian.

Japan honored a military agreement made with Britian and declared war on Germany, and in return Austria-Hungary declared war on them
