Panel 1: Eiji slowly walks down a dark, hallway of the castle.

Panel 2: Aaron, an older-looking man with a long white beard and white robes greets him.

Panel 3: "Eiji!", the man shouts.

Panel 4: "Aaron! It's good to see you again!", Eiji replies as he hugs him.

Panel 1: "Well, I'm afraid it's not the best of time for good words.", he says as he pulls away from Eiji.

Panel 2: "Why? What's wrong?"

Panel 3: ".......Eiji.......I.....don't know how to put this......", he says as he stares solemnly at Eiji.

Panel 4: "Put what?", Eiji replies.

Panel 1: "Vash- died the other day."

Panel 2: "What?!!", Eiji says in a shockened state.

Panel 3: "He was clawed to death during the battle with the demons.", Aaron replied.

Panel 4: "This- can't- be. He was the best of soliders!", Eiji shouted.

Panel 1: "Yes, he was.", Aaron said.

Panel 2: "But- I'm afraid their darkness was too much to overcome for him. They also killed many other soldiers as well."

Panel 3: "I- can't believe it! This- can't be right!", Eiji shouted.

Panel 4: "I'm afraid it is all too true.", Aaron slowly replied.

Panel 1: "He rests in God's hands now."

Panel 1: Eiji slowly walked towards the church's chapel.

Panel 2: He knelt down at the front.

Panel 3: A tear came to his eye.

Panel 4: "My best friend........I'm going to miss you, Vash......."

Panel 1: He slowly stood up as tears ran down his face.

Panel 2: Aaron approached him.

Panel 3: "Why don't you take some time off?"

Panel 4: "No, I couldn't. There's too many things that need to be done."

Panel 5: "Then, go scout some new locations in the forest. Perhaps we can store some of our catapaults out there."

Panel 6: "Yes, sir."

Panel 1: The sunlight arose upon Eiji's eyelids as he lay in bed.

Panel 2: He slowly pulled himself up.

Panel 3: He pulled up his boots as he sat at the edge of his bed.

Panel 1: "I'm going out now Aaron.", Eiji said as he headed down the stairs from his upstairs bedroom.

Panel 2: "Don't you want some breakfast, Eiji?", Aaron asked him.

Panel 3: "I don't feel like eating right now.", he told Aaron.

Panel 1: Eiji walked over the castle's front door.

Panel 2: He headed towards the forest with binoculars in his right hand.

Panel 1: He stared at the massive forestry that lie before him.

Panel 1: He headed into the mass of trees.

Panel 2: He looked through his binoculars for some empty space in the forest somewhere, but did not find any.

Panel 3: He headed deeper into the forest.

Panel 4: Eiji hears a faint sound of marching coming from outside the forest.

Panel 1: "Move out! Kill the human scum!", the leader of the demon army shouts.

Panel 1: Eiji listens carefully to the sounds.

Panel 2: The hideous, black demons dressed in chains and heavy armor run towards the castle.

Panel 3: The castle door is seen in its upright position

Panel 4: The demons leap into the air.

Panel 5: They claw their way up the front door.

Panel 1: "The demons! They're- They're- attacking!!!", Eiji shouts.

Panel 2: He rushes toward the edge of the forest.

Panel 3: He witness the demons slicing through soldiers who have let the door down to fight.

Panel 4: Eiji looks upon the battle in a frozen manner.

Panel 1: He watches more soldiers die in battle.

Panel 1: He nervously shakes as his friends fall in battle.

Panel 1: "Let's go! I think we've done enough here! There's more humans to destroy in other towns!", the leader of the demons said.

Panel 2: The demons are seen marching off into the distance with blood dripping off of their swords and maces.

Panel 1: Eiji rushes out to the field in front of the castle.

Panel 2: He quickly bends down to try to help a fellow soldier.

Panel 3: A thick, bearded man looks up to him.

Panel 4: "Bless you, Eiji, but it is too late for me......."

Panel 5: The soldier passes out.

Panel 1: Eiji drops to his knees.

Panel 2: "No!!!!! How can this happen?!!!!"

Panel 3: He starts to cry.

Panel 4: "Why?!!! Why did this happen?!!!"

Panel 5: "Was my faith in you Lord, not enough?!!"

Panel 1: He slowly stands up.

Panel 2: He heads into the castle to look for survivors.

Panel 3: Many dead men have fallen.

Panel 1: "I......should have been here......", he says as he looks around.

Panel 2: "I......should have died fighting with my friends......"

Panel 1: Aaron lay on the floor, holding his chest.

Panel 2: "You're wrong, Eiji. God saved you for a purpose."

Panel 3: "Aaron!", Eiji said as he turned around.

Panel 4: "Eiji! You must go forth and defeat this evil. If God didn't believe you couldn't do it, then I'm sure you would have rested with your breathern."

Panel 1: "But, Aaron-", Eiji replied.

Panel 2: "Don't- Just listen. I have faith in you as does God. We were strong because we believed, not simply because we stuck together. As long as God is with you, you can do all things......"

Panel 3: "Aaron?", Eiji said as Aaron lay motionless on the cold, stone floor.

Panel 3: "Aaron!!!!!!!!!!", Eiji shouted.

Panel 1: "I will stop the darkness. I won't let the evils of this world hurt any more of the innocent. I will put my faith in God and trust that he has a plan for me."

Panel 2: "For everyone- I must go on!"
