Johm 8-30 As he was speaking these things, many put faith in him.
31 And so Jesus went on to say to the Jews that had believed him: "If
YOU remain in my word, YOU are really my disciples, 32 and YOU will know
the truth, and the truth will set YOU free." 33 They replied to him:
"We are Abraham's offspring and never have we been slaves to anybody.
How is it you say, 'YOU will become free'?"
Implies they didn't know then but we will know now
Mathew 8-9 For I too am a man placed under authority, having soldiers
under me, and I say to this one, 'Be on your way!' and he is on his way,
and to another, 'Come!' and he comes, and to my slave, 'Do this!' and he
does it." 10 Hearing that, Jesus became amazed and said to those following
him: "I tell YOU the truth, With no one in Israel have I found so
great a faith.
John 18-37 Jesus answered: "You yourself are saying that I
am a king. For this I have been born, and for this I have come into the
world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone that is on the
side of the truth listens to my voice." 38 Pilate said to him: "What
is truth?"
So lets look to find what this new truth is. First we cannot take
the words literally example the disciple was not her son.
John19-26 Therefore Jesus, seeing his mother and the disciple whom
he loved standing by, said to his mother: "Woman, see! Your son!"
27 Next he said to the disciple: "See! Your mother!" And from
that hour on the disciple took her to his own home.
Mathew 13-19 Let him that has ears listen So the disciples came
up and said to him: "Why is it you speak to them by the use of illustrations?"
11 In reply he said: "To YOU it is granted to understand the sacred
secrets of the kingdom of the heavens, but to those people it is not granted.
12 For whoever has, more will be given him and he will be made to abound;
but whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken from him. 13
This is why I speak to them by the use of illustrations, because, looking,
they look in vain, and hearing, they hear in vain, neither do they get
the sense of it; 14 and toward them the prophecy of Isaiah is having fulfillment,
which says, 'By hearing, YOU will hear but by no means get the sense of
it; and, looking, YOU will look but by no means see. 15 For the heart of
this people has grown unreceptive, and with their ears they have heard
without response, and they have shut their eyes; that they might never
see with their eyes and hear with their ears and get the sense of it with
their hearts and turn back, and I heal them.' 16 "However, happy are
YOUR eyes because they behold, and YOUR ears because they hear. 17 For
I truly say to YOU, Many prophets and righteous men desired to see the
things YOU are beholding and did not see them, and to hear the things YOU
are hearing and did not hear them. 18 "YOU, then, listen to the illustration
of the man that sowed. 19 Where anyone hears the word of the kingdom but
does not get the sense of it, the wicked one comes and snatches away what
has been sown in his heart; ........ 53 Now when Jesus had finished these
illustrations he went across country from there. 54 And after coming into
his home territory he began to teach them in their synagogue, so that they
were astounded and said: "Where did this man get this wisdom and these
powerful works? 55 Is this not the carpenter's son? Is not his mother called
Mary, and his brothers James and Joseph and Simon and Judas? 56 And his
sisters, are they not all with us? Where, then, did this man get all these
things?" 57 So they began to stumble at him. But Jesus said to them:
"A prophet is not unhonored except in his home territory and in his
own house." 58 And he did not do many powerful works there on account
of their lack of faith.
Why a tool ? Jesus was a carpenter and tools were in his hands
the Philip's head being a tool is Godly as are all tools, but the Philip's
has the cross tip and the rightious name of a Disciple.
John 1-43 The next day he desired to depart for Galilee. So Jesus
found Philip and said to him: "Be my follower." 44 Now Philip
was from Bethsaida, from the city of Andrew and Peter. 45 Philip found
Nathanael and said to him: "We have found the one of whom Moses, in
the Law, and the Prophets wrote, Jesus, the son of Joseph, from Nazareth."
46 But Nathanael said to him: "Can anything good come out of Nazareth?"
Philip said to him: "Come and see." 47 Jesus saw Nathanael coming
toward him and said about him: "See, an Israelite for a certainty,
in whom there is no deceit." 48 Nathanael said to him: "How does
it come that you know me?" Jesus in answer said to him: "Before
Philip called you, while you were under the fig tree, I saw you."
John 14- 8 Philip said to him: "Lord, show us the Father,
and it is enough for us." 9 Jesus said to him: "Have I been with
YOU men so long a time, and yet, Philip, you have not come to know me?
He that has seen me has seen the Father [also]. How is it you say, 'Show
us the Father'?
Acts 8- 12 But when they believed Philip, who was declaring the
good news of the kingdom of God and of the name of Jesus Christ, they proceeded
to be baptized, both men and women. 13 Simon himself also became a believer,
and, after being baptized, he was in constant attendance upon Philip; and
he was amazed at beholding signs and great powerful works taking place.
14 When the apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had accepted the word
of God, they dispatched Peter and John to them; 15 and these went down
and prayed for them to get holy spirit.
Acts 21 8 The next day we set out and arrived in Caesarea, and
we entered into the house of Philip the evangelizer, who was one of the
seven men, and we stayed with him. 9 This man had four daughters, virgins,
that prophesied. 10 But while we were remaining quite a number of days,
a certain prophet named Agabus came down from Judea, 11 and he came to
us and took up the girdle of Paul, bound his own feet and hands and said:
"Thus says the holy spirit, 'The man to whom this girdle belongs the
Jews will bind in this manner in Jerusalem and deliver into the hands of
people of the nations.'" 12 Now when we heard this, both we and those
of that place began entreating him not to go up to Jerusalem.
LETTER TO THE PHILIPPIANS 1 1 Paul and Timothy, slaves of Christ
Jesus, to all the holy ones in union with Christ Jesus who are in Philippi,
along with overseers and ministerial servants
Mathew14- 1 At that particular time Herod, the district ruler,
heard the report about Jesus 2 and said to his servants: "This is
John the Baptist. He was raised up from the dead, and this is why the powerful
works are operating in him." 3 For Herod had arrested John and bound
him and put him away in prison on account of Herodias the wife of Philip
his brother. 4 For John had been saying to him: "It is not lawful
for you to be having her."
