General Membership Meeting

Prior to the start of the meeting, Post Commander Martin McGee announced his resignation.

 

Post Second Vice Commander Ray Jones(Acting Commander) convened the meeting at 9:25 A.M.

 

Roll Call of Officers: Second Vice Commander Ray Jones, Judge Advocate H.J. Hardy, Chaplain John Welsh, Sergeant-at-Arms David Butler, Service Officer Jones, Adjutant Larry Wade, Fil-Am Officer Ernesto Sabado, and Canteen Manager Joe Carsley were present. First Vice Commander/Public Relations Officer Dennis Drazkowski was excused. Historian Thomas Anderson was absent.

 

Adjutant Wade read the minutes from the General Membership Meeting of 8 May 2005. Those minutes were approved subject to corrections.

 

Introduction of Guests and Prospective New Members: No guests or prospective new members present.

 

Finance Report: Canteen Manager Carsley gave the report on the Canteen for the month of May 2005. Adjutant Wade gave the report on the Post for the month of May 2005(The Landbank accounts: Government Securities, Peso Checking, and Dollar Savings. The BPI Peso Checking account. Cash on hand at the Post(Post money)). Wade also gave the Finance Report for Memorial Day(Raffle ticket sales – Game booth – Meal sales).

 

Membership Report: Adjutant Wade reported that the final transmittal had gone out closing Legion Year 2005(Post Life Members = 138, Paid-up-for-Life Members = 18, Annual/New Members = 78, Total = 234. 94% of LY2004 total of 250). The LY2006 Membership cards have not been received at Department.

 

Balloting on Applications: Herbert J. Heinen was balloted and approved for membership.

 

Sick Call, Relief and Employment: Thaddeus “Ski II” Stryminski is in Philippine International Hospital(Room 221).

 

Post Service Officer’s Report: Ray Jones reported that Patrick Montepare died on May 14, 2005. The U,S. Flag was draped on his casket on May 15. He was buried at Clark Cemetery on May 19. Charles Willis died May 28, 2005. The U.S. Flag was draped on his casket on May 29. His burial was at Clark Cemetery on June 7. Lupo Lacanlale died June 2, 2005. The U.S. Flag was delivered on June 3. No report on his burial. Marion Bailey died on June 6, 2005. He lay in state in the Post Home Social Hall from June 7 to June 11. He was buried at Clark Cemetery on June 11.

 

Unfinished Business:

1)      Memorial Day 2005: Adjutant Wade reported on the activities held on Memorial Day(Monday, May 30).

 

2)      Post Home Move: Mr. Joe Carsley reported that he gave Proprietor Reynaldo “MocCandelaria a letter stating that we were no longer considering the 110 square meter room in the commercial building located at 4180 Zeppelin Street Hensonville Subdivision Barangay Malabanas. Mr. Carsley said a letter had been received from Mr. Victor Gomez(owner of the Wanjai Restaurant at 1943 New York Street Villa Sol Subdivision). It was an answer to our rent to buy proposal. Mr. Gomez would rather we buy vice rent. Mr. Carsley advised the Membership that a building on Malabanas Road(near Philippine International Hospital) was looked at and determined to be suitable for the Post Home. The rent to buy agreement was finalized(contract signed and advance/deposit rent in the amount of P38,000.00 paid). A discussion ensued. In accordance with the Post By-Laws(Article three Section three), the above agreement was finalized in violation of said By-Law. In spite of the violation, Mr. Carsley made a motion that the move be made to the Malabanas Road location. The motion was seconded. A discussion followed emphasizing the legalities of the move. The motion was not approved.

 

      A motion was made that the Board of Trustees go look at the location and come back with a recommendation for the membership. The motion was seconded. A discussion was held. The motion was voted upon and approved.

      A motion was made to have a Special Membership Meeting next Sunday(June 19) at 10:00 A.M. The motion was seconded. No discussion. It was voted upon and approved.

 

       New Business:

                A motion was made to post(on the Bulletin Board) the list of vacant Post Officer positions due to resignation. The motion was seconded. No discussion. It was voted upon and approved.

 

        Good of the Legion:

1)      Adjutant Wade read the thank you letter from Fleet Reserve Association(F.R.A.) Branch 367 for our outstanding support of Fralics 2005.

2)      The Post needs to support other raffles if we want other organizations support.

3)      Mr. Joe Carsley summarized a few facts from his Fuss and Facts list.

 

The Second Vice Commander closed the meeting at 10:40 A.M.
