General Membership Meeting Minutes

                                                               8 January 2006

 

Post Commander Raymond Jones convened the meeting at 10:07 A.M.                     

 

Roll Call of Officers: Commander/Service Officer Jones, First Vice Commander/Public Relations Officer Dennis Drazkowski, Finance Officer Walt Howard, Chaplain John Welsh III, Judge Advocate H.J. Hardy, Sergeant-at-Arms David Butler, Adjutant Larry Wade, General Manager Sean McHale, and Fil-Am Officer Ernesto Sabado were present. Second Vice Commander/Kitchen Manager Jerry Bristle and Historian Thomas Anderson were absent. Communications Officer (Vacant).

 

A motion was passed to accept the minutes of the 13 November 2005 General Membership Meeting subject to corrections.

 

Introduction of Guests and Prospective New Members: Hans Stockenberger (member of American Legion China Post 1) and Jesse Foster (American Legion Philippine Department Vice Commander of Luzon) were introduced as guests. There were no prospective new members present.

 

Finance Report: Finance Officer Howard read the American Legion Post 123 Financial Report for December 2005. A motion was made and seconded to accept the Financial Report (subject to audit). No discussion. The motion was voted upon and the Financial Report was approved (subject to audit).

 

Membership Report: Membership Chairperson Drazkowski reported that the Post currently has 205 Paid-Up Members for Legion Year 2006(131 Post Life Members, 57 Annual Members, and 17 Paid-up-for-Life Members). NOTE: Follow-up continues on Legionnaire Charles L. Morgan (our 18th Paid-up-for-Life Member). The 205 Paid-Up Members is 88% of Legion Year 2005 total of 234 Paid-Up Members.

 

Balloting on Applications: Rodolfo C. Romano was balloted. A motion was made and seconded to accept him into the Post. No discussion. The motion was voted upon and approved.

 

Sick Call, Relief and Employment: Adjutant Wade reported that Post Life Member John Tatum had been released from Philippine International Hospital and is home receiving Physical Therapy.

 

Post Service Officers Report: Veteran Harry Emerson Baker (U. S. Army Warrant Officer) passed away on 28 December 2005. On 29 December, his widow was presented a U.S. flag after providing a copy of form DD 214. He was cremated. On 6 January 2006, the Clark Cemetery graveside service was conducted by VFW Post 2485 at 10:00 A.M. American Legion Post 123 was represented by Adjutant Wade.

 

Unfinished Business:

  1. Post Constitution and By-Laws: The Post Constitution and By-Laws are being reviewed by the Department Judge Advocate.

 

  1. Election Day: It was held on Sunday, December 11, 2005 at the Post Home from 10:00 A.M. until Noon. William Brown was elected to the Five-Year Board of Trustee (BOT  American Position) over Eugene Flantroy.

 

 

New Business:

 

  1. Installation of Post Officers: The following Post Officers were installed by Vice Commander of Luzon Jesse Foster. He was assisted by Department Assistant Service Officer Martin McGee.

  1. Philippine Department Convention: It is scheduled for April 20-23, 2006. Department Commander Kelly is requesting the Convention be held at the Clark Museum as it was in 2004. Post 123, Post 10, and Post 4 will be working together on this important event.

 

  1. Thirteenth-Month Pay: Commander Jones advised the Membership that this will be paid to our employees this week.

 

  1. Sixty-First Anniversary of the Liberation of Bamban and the Battle of Bamban Hills Commemoration: The Bamban Historical Society (BHS) will be hosting this event starting at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 21, 2006. Location: 40th Division Memorial, Hill 500 (Grotto), Brgy, Lourdes, Bamban.

 

Good of the American Legion:

 

1.      Mr. Stockenberger told the Membership abit about himself.

 

2.      Erlinda Cookie Montoya is Post Employee of the month for the month of December 2005.

 

3.      The Beagles Organization will be commemorating the Birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with a Memorial Service at noon on Saturday, January 14, 2006 at the Dog House. A barbeque luncheon will follow the services. Price: P175.00.

 

4.      The 5th Annual Australia Day Fiesta organized by the Angeles City R.S.L. Club will be held from Wednesday January 25 to Sunday January 29, 2006. Check the flyers for the various venues and events.

 

5.      The 10th Philippine International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta will be held 9-12 February 2006 at Clarkfield, Pampanga. We should try and set up our game booth at this event as we were able to earn P25,000.00 at this Fiesta in 2003.

 

6.      General Manager McHale thanked the members present for their support of the Post.

 

7.      The monthly Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) Chapter 887 Recruiting Social will be held at Limited Edition on Thursday, January 19, 2006 at 2:00 P.M.
