General Membership Meeting Minutes

Post Commander Raymond Jones convened the meeting at 10:03 A.M.

 

Roll Call of Officers: Commander/Service Officer Jones, First Vice Commander Lafayette Donaldson, Second Vice Commander David Butler, Finance Officer Walt Howard, Judge Advocate H.J. Hardy, Chaplain John Welsh III, Sergeant-at-Arms/Adjutant Larry Wade, and General Manager Sean McHale were present. Public Relations Officer Dennis Drazkowski, Fil-Am Officer Ernesto Sabado, Historian Thomas Anderson, and Kitchen Manager Jerry Bristle were absent.

 

A motion was passed to accept the minutes of the 8 January 2006 General Membership Meeting subject to corrections.

 

Introduction of Guests and Prospective New Members: There were no guests or prospective new members present.

 

Finance Report: Finance Officer Howard read the American Legion Post 123 Financial Report for January 2006. He wanted to know the amount collected for the Donation Fund. General Manager McHale told him $800.00 and P3,000.00. A motion was made and seconded to accept the Financial Report subject to audit. No discussion. The motion was voted upon and the Financial Report was approved subject to audit.

 

Membership Report: Membership Chairman Donaldson reported that the Post currently has 217 Paid-Up Members for Legion Year 2006(131 Post Life Members, 68 Annual Members, and 18 Paid-up-for-Life Members). Fifteen(15) Members were transmitted to Department Headquarters on Saturday, 11 February 2006 at P900.00 each(P13,500.00).

NOTE: We received an E-mail from National Headquarters on January 24, 2006 that read: After reviewing our records, we have no record of receiving a transfer request for Charles Morgan. However, per your email we’ve transferred his membership in PI Post 123; he should appear on your next roster. Charles Morgan is our 18th Paid-up-for-Life Member.

 

Balloting on Applications: Brian R. Eston, Fred L. Eure, William P. Hughes, and Daryl Ty Wade were balloted. A motion was made and seconded to accept them into the Post. No discussion. The motion was voted upon and approved.

 

Sick Call, Relief and Employment: Post Life Member John Tatum is home receiving Physical Therapy. He is doing well. Dennis Drazkowski is getting around without his wheelchair now. He does use a cane. Post Life Member Howard “Dick” Lannon had his left knee operated on at Manila Doctors Hospital on Friday, February 3. He is home now.

 

Post Service Officer’s Report: Post Service Officer Jones said there is nothing to report.

 

Unfinished Business:

  1. Post Constitution and By-Laws: They are still being reviewed by the Department Judge Advocate.

 

  1. Installation of Post Officers: The installation of Post Officers took place at the January 8 General Membership Meeting.

 

  1. Donation Report: General Manager McHale reported that he has collected a total of $900.00(Dollars and Pesos).

 

  1. Canteen Employees Rules: These rules still need to be finalized and published, signed by each employee, notarized, and posted on the Employees Bulletin Board.

 

New Business:

 

  1. The 86th Annual Convention of the American Legion, Philippine Department: Adjutant Wade briefed the Membership on the Convention. It will be held at the Clark Museum(upstairs conference room) on Saturday, April 22, 2006 and one-half day(until noon) on Sunday, April 23, 2006. The pickup/dropoff location will be Post 123. Registration will begin at 7:30 A.M. on April 22 at the Clark Museum. Registration fee: P500.00. Other logistics such as lodging and meals is being worked out. Post 4, 10, 123 are co-hosts for the Convention.
  2. For the Membership’s information, at the February 7, 2006 Post Executive Committee Meeting the Committee recommended approval of having a full-page advertisement of the Post printed in the Convention Yearbook at a cost of P1,500.00. Convention Raffle Tickets are available here at the Post at P200 per book of eleven tickets.

 

Good of the American Legion:

 

  1. The Post participated in the 5th Annual Australia Day Fiesta organized by the Angeles City R.S.L. Club by setting up a booth on Fields Avenue on Sunday, January 29th for the Curry Cook-off and Street Party. Sales of Legion items was P4,355.00 and another P1,800.00 on the Balloon Buster Game.

 

  1. The Post inquired about setting up a booth at the 10th Philippine International Hotair Balloon Fiesta 9-12 February 2006 at Clark Air Base. A letter was submitted to waive the P5,000.00 booth fee due to us being a nonprofit organization. The letter was disapproved and a decision was made by the Post Commander along with the Activities Committee not to participate due to having to make up too much money.

 

  1. The cashier has VFW Post 11447 Barrio Beach Bash tickets at P100 per ticket or P500 per book of six tickets. The Beach Bash will be held in Barrio Barretto, Olongapo City 15-19 February 2006.

 

  1. The cashier has Fralics 2006 tickets at P20.00 each or P200.00 for a book of eleven tickets. The Fralics, sponsored by Fleet Reserve Association, San Miguel Branch 367, will be held April 7th, 8th & 9th.

 

  1. The DAV Chapter 3 will have their annual raffle tickets available this week.

 

Information: The Beagles Organization’s Valentine’s Day Dinner Dance will be held at the Century Resort Function Hall on Tuesday, February 14, 2006 beginning at 6:00 P.M. Tickets are P350.00 each.
