I was born in Zimbabwe in 1966 and am of Irish and English decent. I was
educated Bulawayo before attaining a B.Sc. (agric) degree from Natal
University. As a student I started student safaris throughout southern Africa
taking groups of 10 to 30 people overland to Malawi, Zimbabwe abd Botswana.
After working for two years in forestry, I travelled overseas for 6 months
before returning to Zimbabwe to start a photographic safari company. I attained
a professional hunter's licence, which is necessary to guide people in
dangerous game areas of the country.
I was married in 1993 to Sandy, and we live in the Matopo hills in a small
safari lodge that we have built up together. The camp is self-sufficient in
that it uses solar power to run the lights and electrics in the camp and source
water from a small river. >From the lodge I take safaris to most of the
National parks within the country. We have three dogs and 6 horses as our
family.
I have a passion for 4x4 off roading, being twice the winner of the long wheel
base class in the annual 4x4 Jamboree. I have interest is in appropriate
technologies useful to the lodge as well as repairing anything from telephones
to engines. Scuba diving and snow skiing is an occasional sport embarked upon
as often as possible.
I also manage the families' Pest Control business in the city of Bulawayo. I am
eager to learn new methods for the control of insect vectors.
Travel - I believe it is the world' s best University as I am prepared to learn
from others while travelling. I like to share with others my love of travel and
of the wonderful country - Zimbabwe in which I live.
