After two mediocre episodes in a row we were due for something good.  And we thankfully get it!  Remember is quite a good episode.  We see some interesting insights into an alien race and some of their politics and we get a pretty good BElanna episode.

The Enarans are a well-rounded Trek species and it was a pleasure to watch them.  I doubt that well see them again which is a pity.  First of all they are telepaths, mostly touch telepaths but it seems other telepathy is done; that isnt explained properly, they are friendly and unique yet humanized also.  They have a unique ability to be able to transfer their memories and teach people things, like one of them teaches Janeway to play one of their instruments.

The story follows BElannas dreams, which are actually memories, of a woman named Jora Korenna Mirell who is know elderly as she travels with her Enaran colleagues on Voyager.  The memories show her steamy love affair with a man who is a Regressive, a group of Enarans that lead different lives.  The normal Enaran population disapproves of the Regressives.

Joras father disapproves with Joras boyfriend and he also seems to be some kind of important politician and along with his colleagues decides to relocate all the Regressives.  This relocation is actually a guise to exterminate the Regressives.

This is an interesting plot and the way we see it is quite interesting because we dont get any clues as to what is happening or whats ahead.  But you have to see it to fully appreciate it, of course!    I was hoping that this wouldnt go the way Persistence of Vision went which it thankfully doesnt.

Near the end, after BElanna discovers the truth she confronts the Enarans and tries to make the truth known to all.  No one is willing to believe what BElanna is saying but at the end we see Jessen sharing BElannas memories and

Well thats it.  And thats the main problem with Remember.  Everything is perfect as it is except the ending.  Its not what we see, its what we dont see.

Its all very well having quite a riveting story and all, but there is no real pay-off because BElanna cant really do anything with the information and we dont see what results from Jessen discovering the truth.  Wed need to see what happens to the Enarans and if this were TNG wed be able to do that.

I also didnt like how BElanna couldnt have any real character stuff in here.  She might not approve of whats happened but she wasnt the one who cheered for her boyfriends death and she was never best friends with Jora anyway, so her murder by her people to shut her up didnt effect BElanna too much.

I found it ironic that BElanna was getting annoyed at the genocide of the Regressives when Klingons are not that much better.  Neither are humans.  Only 200 years ago humans were extremely violent and killed for what seems like in the TV realm, pointless.  But of course the people doing the killing think they have the right and think they know what they are doing.

The acting was very well done and Roxanne Dawson played her characters nicely with nice support from Charles Esten who plays Dathan in the flashbacks.

The way that Remember is written there is nothing else that could be improved on unless Voyager stayed with the Enarans for longer.

Its a bit generous to give Remember four stars, it really leaves more to be desired.,  It was still enjoyable and very interesting to watch.  A very good try and it works as a drama by itself.
