My home page is entitled Phil Nation after the nickname given to me by two men's college
basketball coaches, Ken Dempsey and Darryl Hilliard. For many years in Boston, there was a sports talk show called Ted Nation that aired weeknights
on a local radio station (for those of you in the Boston area, or who know the area, it is WEEI
850 AM), hosted by Ted Sarandis. Like Ted, I am very knowledgeable and enthusiastic
about the sports world, especially college basketball. The coaches, whom I know very well
personally from being a manager on the men's basketball team, gave me the nickname during the 1995-96
basketball season, and it has stuck ever since with small variations like simply, "The Nation".
