submission guidelines

Literatura Magazine generally considers unpublished literary works by emerging and established Filipino (or hyphenated Filipino) authors for publication. LM showcases a diversity of style, tone, point of view and subject matter: submitted work meets with no criteria other than the piece stands up as a well-written work of literary narrative in short story or poetic or essay form. Were also interested in critical essays about Philippine literature. Stories and essays should be between 1500 and 7500 words in length. Poetry collections may be submitted in batches of three to five works.

E-mail your submission to
icasocot(at)gmail(dot)com as an attached MS Word RTF file; a cover letter in the body of the emailusually a short bio and list of previous publicationsshould accompany your work. Electronic manuscript files should be laid out in traditional manuscript format. The manuscript file must include the authors name and e-mail address on the first page of the document. Files in Microsoft Word in RTF format are especially encouraged. Please do not submit text-only files. Please do not send literary works as text or HTML files pasted into the body of an email. Do not send literary works with embedded illustrations.

Usually an issue revolves around a theme set by a guest editor. For example, the July 2003 issue is dedicated to Negros Fiction. Obviously, submissions for thematic issues DO need to meet the deadline for that particular issue. Submissions held over from previous issues will not be considered for the specialized issue (unless they fit its parameters), but they will be retained for the next regular issue.
