RFFL 1994 SEASON

FANTASY BOWL IV CHAMPION

SAMURAIS

DON HANSEN & RAY TANG

This was the final year for legendary coach Raymond Tang, who remained for this year in order to assist the league in moving past the dreaded "Hank Debacle" of 1993.  Ray teamed up with the former coach of the 69er's Don Hanson to set an example which seems to have lasted through today.

Ray Tang was in 3 Fantasy Bowls out of 4 years, winning 2.  In addition he added a Consolation Bowl appearance in 1993.  The soft-spoken owner of the Samurais never created controversy or complained but simply accepted all decisions and let his talent for finding the big free agent, carry his teams to victory time and time again.

The term "Pulling a Ray" became part of RFL lingo, for a team who would pick up a formerly unknown player, start him, for his only big week of the year, and then drop him the following week. We do not know what happened to this tremendous competitor but we miss him and will always keep a spot open for him should he ever return.

Ray should you ever find yourself reading these pages, be sure to know that you are always welcome and that a place is always set for you at the Annual RFFL Dinner.
