New Executive Council brings a new vision for 2004-2005 |

Past, present, and future present different opportunities and challenges for the newly elected EC. |

Challenge, pressure, high expectations: all words highly associated with being elected or appointed to the Executive Council of Phi Kappa. This year more than possibly ever the new EC comes into office under one of the most burdensome eras in our fraternity's history. Participation is down, money is short, but spirits are still high. At the EC's first general meeting of 2004, issues were expressed that ranged all over the board, but three key areas sparked the most conversation and interest: history, communication, and expansion became the EC's three step plan toward a brighter future for Kappa. The past of our fraternity is one of our brotherhood's most prized possessions. However, without the constant upkeep of these archives our past will dwindle into filing cabinets full of meaningless papers. The EC has come to the realization that the future of this fraternity cannot be built on any stronger foundation than an intact and extensive historical archives, and along with the Alumni Association this key-point is becoming reality. Along the same lines, future expansion will not be possible without healthy and active chapters. To ensure the maintenance and growth of her chapters the Executive Council has decided to implement more effective lines of communication and help. This website is one of these new tools that the EC hopes will aide in the chapters' communication with one another and the EC. The renewal of semi-annual Grand Master Retreats for the education of chapter officers also hopes to ensure that officers are ready to expand their chapter's area of influence. Finally, the future of Phi Kappa will only be possible with the expansion of our fraternity into cities throughout the South. Not only is the EC looking back to the cities in which successful chapters have existed in the past, but they are also widening their focus to include areas that may not yet have been able to experience the high school fraternal experience. If you once were a Phi Kappa, or are interested in joining our brotherhood, please contact the Executive Council and become involved in Kappa's daily activities, glorious history, and ever expanding history. |
