Bombay Hook NWR
And other nearby refuges

On the Delaware Bay 30 miles east of Dover, DE

January 27-30, 2002

We kept an eye on the eastern RBA (Rare Bird Alerts) and on the weather, and when things looked good set off for Delaware. We found a hotel in Dover with a good nearby bar so we could walk back to our room in the evenings, and studied the maps. The temperature was 65 or better, and we saw a Snowy Owl, Bluebirds, Northern Pintails, many Snow Geese and Tundra Swans among other things. Not to mention Eagles and Northern Harriers. Some pictures follow. The beveled pictures are thumbnails; click them for a larger picture.
