The Vengeful Ghost

This is another part to the Bell Witch. Kinda like a back story... Well, as you know a story changes over time as it is told over and over again, and by different people, so things change. The frequent version is that the Bell Witch was infact Kate Batts, a mean old neighbor of John Bell, and as the story goes so was bitter to him because he cheated her on a land purchase. Well it is said that while she was on her death bed she swore to haunt John Bell and his descendents.

As tradition says, John Bell and his family were tormented for years by the spirit of mean Old Kate Batts. The main targets of this malicious torment was Bettsy, his favorite daughter, and John Bell himself. Though when it came to the other members of the family, the ghost was either indeferent or in the case of Mrs. Bell, the ghost was friendly. No one has ever seen the infamous Bell Witch, but those who have stayed at the house have heard her all too well. Though her voice change from a "nerve-racking pitch when displeased, while at other times it sang and spoke in low musical tunes." The ghost is said to have thrown furniture and dishes and the Bells, and went from pulling their noses, to yanking their hair, poking needles into them, she snatched food from their plates and mouths at mealtime, and even yelled all night to keep them from sleeping.
