To
the ancient Egyptians, there was no separation between magick
and religion. Since Egypt was a working socialistic theocracy,
the government was also bound to magick.
The most commonly used symbols in Egyptian Magick include the
Ankh, the eye of Horus, the eyes of the pyramid, the feather of
Ma'at and the scarab.
the ankh represents the hope of life in this world and the
breath of life in the Other World. it still has an overpowering
presence in modern Egyptian traditions.
the Eye of Horus is used in healing ceremonies as a protective
amulet - the Eye in the Pyramid is more modernly manifested in
the Masonic Orders and in the Thelemic magick of Aleister Crowley.
The
Feather of Maat represents truth, justice, morality and balance,
while the Scarab is used by the Magickian who hoped to harness
the primordial fires of the Beginning.
