| BREEDING BETTAS; I use a 3 gallon critter tank for my breeding set-up with a sponge filter and I add black water extract to the water. I fill the tank1/2 full or alittle less and set the tempature at 80 degrees PH is 7.2. I place java moss and duckweed in the tanks as I believe the plants are natural filteration and produces infurision for the newly hatch fry. I also have live snails to eat the uneaten food. I add the male first and then the female in a jar and let her out when i see strips on the body or when she starts to build a bubble nest.. The java moss aIso provides a hiding place for the female leave the light on for the fry for a week or two. After the fry are big enough to see, I siphon the bottom of the tank each week and add a sponge filter to the tank. Once the fry are about 3 to 4 weeks old I move them to a 20 gallon grow out tank with a bubble filter, undergravel filter and live plants. I take the bigger bettas out and place them in the beanie baby containers. When the male builds a bubble nest and the female shows sign of barring on the side or flares back atthe male she is usually ready for the male. |

| BEANIE BABY CONTAINERS: I siphon about 1/4 of water from the bottom each day and add already prepared water that I have in a 20 gallon tank with the same PH ( 7.2) and temp as the beanie baby containers. I replace the beanie baby containers every 2-3 days with cleaned beanie baby containers. I then place the old container in chlorax to disinfect and rinse with hot water very well ready to replace for the next time On the days i replace the beanie baby containers I have a day at the spa for all bettas which is a 2.5 gallon tank filled with betta-max. Each station has 50 comtainers so i have 50 extra beanie baby containers. BREEDER AND SHOW MALES/FEMALES: Are placed in 2.5 gallon tanks, heater, small sponge filter and gravel to the bottom are added.I keep the temp 76 degrees. I siphon the bottoms every other day and add fresh water. THREE GALLON TO 20 GALLONS: I place bubble and sponge filters in the tanks. I do water changes every 3 days. I add already prepared water to the tanks. |
