LESSER BORNEAN CRESTED FIREBACK
LOPHURA IGNITA IGNITA
SOUTHERN BORNEO
In captivity, these Pheasants do well if the climate is warm.  They are not happy with the cold weather when below 35 degrees F.  Under good conditions, the hens will lay twenty to twenty-five eggs in three clutches.  The chicks grow rapidly and easily, but are susceptible to germs.  Also they are large, tall, striking birds, powerfully built, the large blue face-wattles and short, arched tail giving them a peculiar look.  It is not uncommon to have an aggressive male during breeding season.
