Sharon, The conversation is a matter of express yourself and ask questions. You start with very simple and straight foreward expressions. Such as, start with I, You, He, She, We, They,.... Look at the following examples. You start with the Subject, predicate (verb) and an object. I need water. I want juice. I drink milk. I get my glasses. I lost my purse. I find my key. You come here. You are pretty. You work hard. He sees a dog. He loves cars. She eats ice cream. She loves roses. She is there. For questions, you start with What, WHere, When, How, Why, Which, Who, followed by is, are, do don't and then follow by the simple expression sentence. What is wrong ? What is that ? Which one do you like ? Which school do you go ? How do I do next ? How do you open it ? Where are you ? Where is the key ? Who is coming this afternoon ? Who is the best basketball player ? When does it happen ? When do you have to go ? Why don't you study hard ? Why don't you come with me ? Why not ? To ask for a favor, or to be polite, start with Could, Would, May,... Would you please pass the cup for me ? Would you please help me ? Could you show me how to prepare for the Michigan battery test ? Could you tell me how many credit hours I need to take to get my BS degree in Computer Science ? May I ask you a question ? May I speak to Ms. Smith ? Could you give me a ride to greyhound bus station at 12:30 today ? Sharon, try to express thing clearly, simply, and speak slowly. Your spoken English will be super. Once you familiar to the simple ones, then you can add more adjective, adverb to the sentence. For example. I like roses. I like red roses. I like the red roses my friend bought it for me last week. Where are you ? Where have you been ? Where have you been the whole afternoon ? I want juice. I want orange juice. I want Florida orange juice. I want the kind of Florida orange juice we drank last night. I would like to order one fillet fish, 2 bic Mac, 1 small coke and one large french fry. To go. Although you have nobody to chat, you can write it down on your note books. --------------------- I emailed Ms. Joan Smith and she told me that the bill will be out next week. She also told me that if you pass the "Michigan Battery Test", then you will be able to take Computer Science courses Spring, 2000. She does not tell me how many courses you have to take in order to get your BS degreee in Computer Science yet. Once I find out the information, I will let you know. Please work hard on TOEFL vocabulary, and grammars. Once you pass the TOEFL 500, we will have more choice in terms of where to study for Spring 2000. (UNA, ATHENS, AAMU, UAH,...) Best regards, Uncle Peter,
