PhatBack Athletics had an outstanding showing at the 2004 AAU Junior Olympics. The squad managed to bring home 14 medals for the 6 day national championship meet which was held on the campus of Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.

Khaliff Featherstone,15, won his first national championship in the 400 meter dash with a blistering time of 48.04 That is one of the fastest open times by a Philadelphia public school student since the late 80's. That time ranks him third in the nation for Intermediate Boys. Khaliff also dropped a 1:57.3 leg on the bronze medal 4x800. He missed the finals of the 400 Hurdles by one place with a 57.5.

Zachary Malet,16, shined as well having also run 6 races in six days . He placed second in the 800 meter run in a whopping PR of 1:56.9. That too ranks as number three in the nation for Intermediate Boys. He placed third in his heat of the 1500 and ran legs on the 4x800 and 4x400 relays.

Carrington Queen,16, and Jordan Harris,14, were able to pull off medals in the 110-Hurdles and 200 Hurdles respectively. Queen's PR of 14.16 from the summer season puts him in the top five for the state of Pennsylvania in his specialty.

Sargbah Tarpeh, 17, pulled off a 6th place finish out of the slow heat of the 1500 in a PR of 4:11.02.

Garnell Hall, 16, was able to pull off 4th in the 200 while also running a leg on the 6th place 4x400.
