Chapter 01
In the streets of downtown New York a lone guy walked around through the crowds he was trying his hardest to remain unseen by all. Steven Strait looked around him quietly trying to remain unseen but his attempts failed when a group of teenage girls saw him. He didn't know what to do, he had never been the position before.

Kaia Matheson looked out the door of small record shop that she worked at and sighed she knew that all he wanted was to be invisible. After all that was her job, to keep the ones who didn't want all the attention out of it. She quickly walked out the door of the shop and straight through the crowd to Steven.

"Hey, sweetie, come with me," Kaia whispered, taking his hand and walking quickly back into her shop having Steven follow her. "Relax, no one saw us,"

"Uh, thanks," Steven mumbled looking at Kaia as she went back to find the CD she had been looking for.

"Your welcome. Oh and you're also welcome to stay until Chace gets here," Kaia smirked, she knew that Steven was trying to get to Chace Crawford's apartment which was why she had sent him Chace a message telling him where Steven was.

"Do I know you?" Steven queried as Kaia walked around the front of the counter and plonked down on the floor.

"Nah, you just know my step-brother," Kaia answered looking up at him before she added. "Oh and I'm Kaia by the way," she added.

Meanwhile Chace was having to put up with Toby Hemingway and Taylor Kitsch play fighting in the back of his car. Chace sighed and continued to drive, as it was the boys were all running late to get to the final day of filming for their movie. Soon enough the boys were at the record shop, they arrived just as Anna Jamieson, and another girl who worked there arrived.

Inside Kaia and Steven were getting to know one another. Kaia liked the fact that he loved music.

"When did you meet..." Steven started to ask as Toby burst through the doors and stopped.

"When did I meet them?" Kaia asked laughing as Toby decided who to hug first.

"You hug my sister first and I kick your butt," Chace yelled as he and Taylor walked through the doors followed by Anna.

"Hey guys, Hey Anna," Kaia laughed as Chace made a beeline for her.

"Toby, just go hug Steven you know you want to," Taylor smirked at his boyfriends antics. "Hey Kaia, Hey Steven," he added, still smirking as Toby went for Steven and wrapped his arms around him.

"Kaia you coming with us still, cause I really want you to," Chace told her as he hugged her.

"Yeah, I'll still come," Kaia smiled at him, but didn't move from where she was sitting.

Chace smiled and sat on the floor before he pulled her up with him. Kaia laughed at the look that she was getting given from Anna as she remembered that she was yet to introduce them. Taylor wrapped his arms around Toby's waist and rested his head on his shoulder.

"Oh yeah, hi," Chace said looking at Anna who just stared at him.

"Anna, sweetheart meet Chace, Toby, Taylor and Steven," Kaia said giving Chace a small kiss on the cheek before making him let go so that she could hug Toby and Taylor.

Toby grinned innocently as he grabbed Kaia's butt when she hugged him. Anna looked at him with raised eyebrows before each boy introduced themselves.

"Hey, I'm Toby," Toby grinned still hugging Kaia. "And that's Taylor,"

"Hey Anna," Taylor smiled, as he grabbed Toby's arm and pulled him gently away from Kaia.

"Uh...hi," Anna smiled, uncertainly at them.

"I'm Chace, and that's Steven and we're running ever so fucking late," Chace said which forced the others to start making their way to the door.

"Kaia babe come," Toby said before he noticed that she had started locking up some of the store equipment. "Uh...Kaia what are you doing?"

"Locking up, hey Anna how would feel about a little road trip," Kaia grinned, Chace nodded as he thought that Anna was cute.

"Sweet, two girls," Toby laughed, as Taylor took the opportunity to hug her.

Chace was lucky that he and Kaia drove a shared Suburban and could fit everyone in it. Toby and Steven opted to sit up the very back, while Taylor opted to sit in the middle and finally Anna sat up front with Chace.

"Hey Chace, what time are we hoping to be finished by?" Toby questioned as Taylor put his head on Kaia's shoulder.

"No idea what so ever," Chace answered looking in the rear view mirror. "Tay, you okay?"

"Bad feeling, that's all," Taylor replied, his head still resting on Kaia's shoulder.

"I hate your bad feelings you know," Kaia whispered before Anna decided to talk.

"How the hell do you know these guys?" she questioned, raising her eyebrow as Chace glanced at her.

"Kaia's my step-sister, has been for maybe the last 15 years," Chace answered, trying to think how long it had been as Kaia was a couple of years older than his 21 years.

Kaia rolled her eyes, Chace had a habit of going into detail. Toby and Steven started their own conversation, which involved Toby whining that he was the shortest of the four guys. Within a matter of minutes they were at the studio and being escorted around.

Later that night and they were finished filming the movie and Toby just wanted to collapse in Taylor's arms and fall asleep, while Steven wanted to get to know Kaia better. Anna wanted to find out more about Chace. A few hours later and they had all but gotten their wishes. Toby was frantically trying to call Chace, Steven and Kaia but couldn't get hold of them. He couldn't get hold of Chace and Steven because both their phones had co-incidentally on vibrate and Kaia wasn't answering hers.

"Kaia pick up! Please!" Toby exclaimed as he got her answering machine yet again. Kaia rolled over in bed and looked at her phone deciding to answer it.

"What, Toby?" Kaia questioned, yawning into the phone as she sat up slightly.

"Kaia...Taylor and...I...we...fought..." Toby mumbled as he tried to regain his breath, neither he nor Taylor liked when they fought but he happened occasionally.

"What about sweetie?" Kaia sighed, climbing out of bed and almost tripping over in the process.

"Nothing important..." he answered, sniffling as tears started to roll down his cheeks.

Kaia quickly got dressed knowing that what he was about to say next could only be bad. While she changed she listened to Toby's sniffling into the phone. Taylor and Toby had similar tempers and when they were pushed neither gave up until the other left the room or house which ever came first. After she was dressed, Kaia quickly walked down the hall way to her brothers room to wake him up, he still had the car keys.

"Kaia, something is most definitely wrong," Chace said, as he looked up from his bed and at her as she stood in the doorway.

"Toby, Chace and I'll be there soon," Kaia told Toby as she quickly hung up the phone before she asked Chace what was going on. "Chace, what the fuck is going on?"

"Taylor called me," Chace answered, reaching over the side of his bed and picking up a pair of boxer shorts and pulling them on under his covers.

"Well?" she asked, as she shoved her phone into her pocket and grabbed the car keys. "What did he say?"

"Nothing, that's just it he didn't say anything...I just heard..." Chace said pausing as he got out of his bed and pulled a pair of jeans on and then slipped his shoes on. "I heard, a really loud crash,"

"Fuck!" Kaia exclaimed, Chace nodded and quickly dialled Steven's number while Kaia dialled Anna's and they made their way out to the car.

Soon Chace and Kaia had both Steven and Anna in their car and they were on their way to Toby and Taylor's house to get Toby as he was in no condition to drive. As soon as she pulled up outside the house she jumped out and ran to the front door.

"Toby, open up," she called knocking on the door, soon enough he opened the door with tears streaming down his face.

"Kaia, I didn't mean any...any of what I said...to him," Toby cried, wrapping his arms around her and putting his head on her shoulder.

"I know, let's just go see how is he okay?" she questioned rubbing his back as she grabbed his jacket from behind him and also grabbed his house keys and placed them in his hand.

"Okay..." Toby sniffled, wiping his eyes dry and then following her out to the car while Chace climbed into the drivers seat and Steven motioned for Anna to get up front with him.

"Dude, you okay?" Steven asked as Toby climbed in the middle and rested his head on Steven's shoulder. Toby shook his head as a tear slid down it again.

"Chace, just get us there in one piece, yeah?" Kaia queried watching as Chace nodded and started the car while placing one hand on top of Anna's. He was just a little distressed and often looked for the nearest person's hand in trouble.

Chace drove them all to the nearest hospital, which was where Taylor had been taken. Once they arrived there they had no idea how they were going to get into see Taylor, as it was family only. Kaia sighed to herself as she thought of what she could say so that she and the boys could get into see Taylor.

A few moments later and she had figured it out, or at least she thought she had. Kaia walked into the hospital with Toby's hand firmly in hers. Toby mumbled incoherently to himself as he followed her, Anna walked slightly behind them with Steven and Chace in front of her, she was new to the whole thing.

"Toby calm down, I have an idea," she whispered, walking straight up to the front desk of the hospital.

"May I help you?" the nurse stationed at the desk asked looking up as Kaia rested her hand on the desk. "I said may I help you?"

"Yeah, you can. Was a guy by the name of Taylor Kitsch brought in in the last hour?" Kaia asked, Chace raised his eyebrow wondering what she was going to say next. "He's my cousin," she added once she saw the look that the nurse was giving her. The others though she was lying when said it.

"He's down the hall in intensive care," the nurse told her, as she typed something into the computer.

"Ma'am that doesn't help us, what room?" Kaia told her impatiently as she waited for an answer and Steven whispered something to Chace who nodded.

"Room number 445, go straight down the hall, turn left and it's the fourth door on the right,"

Kaia thanked the nurse and then led the others down the hallway to where Taylor lay. None of the really knew what to expect, because after all it was the ICU ward. Kaia waited outside while Toby went into the room, he needed to apologise to him.

"Tay, baby, I am so fucking sorry," Toby cried standing at the end of the bed and looking at his almost lifeless body. "Wake up," he sniffled as Chace walked in and put his hand on Toby's shoulder almost instantly turning him around to give him a hug.

"He'll be okay you know," Chace whispered into Toby's ear as the others walked in.

"I told him I hated his bad feelings," Kaia said, Toby turned his head and looked at her.

"Hey, uhm Chace could we maybe go sit out in the waiting room?" Anna asked, she wanted to ask Chace something else, and he knew it.

"Yeah, sure, guys and Kaia we'll be just out there," Chace paused before he continued to talk. "Taylor, dude wake up please,"

Toby sat in the chair beside the bed and took Taylor's hand in his hand rubbed his thumb along it. Kaia sighed and looked towards Steven who was looking almost as nervous as Toby was. Steven looked at Kaia and smiled a little before motioning to the window.

"You never answered me, how long have you known Toby, Taylor and Chace for?" Steven asked quietly as they walked over to the window and looked out into the car park.

"Taylor, well he really is my cousin so I've known him my entire life," Kaia answered truthfully, which made Steven realise that she hadn't lied when she said it to get them into the room.

"What about Toby and Chace?" he asked glancing back towards Toby and Taylor.

"Chace, said it before I've known him since my mom married his dad fifteen years ago. So make it about 16 years," Kaia told him, pausing before she went onto tell him how long she'd known Toby. "Toby I haven't known nearly as long, only since you guys started filming,"

"So does that mean that Chace and Taylor are cousin's too?" Steven asked, raising his eyebrow at her, she shook her head.

Kaia walked over to Toby and put her hand on his shoulder causing him to look up at her before he rested his head on the bed beside Taylor�s hand. Steven walked over to them shortly afterwards and asked Kaia if she wanted to go for coffee sometime in the near future.
