WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO YOU SINCE GRADUATION?
The first years after graduation Tom worked a blend of hospital and retail
pharmacy practice. One highlight for each area includes: ownership of an independent retail pharmacy (Joseph's Pharmacy in West Bloomfield, Mich) :and from hospital practice, working as the ER/Trauma Team RPh at Mt. Carmel Hospital in Detroit, Mich. Jackie started pharmacy school at Wayne State University in 1982. Upon her graduation in 1988 Tom enrolled in graduate school at Wayne State University earning his master's degree in 1996. Tom began working in managed care during the late 1980's for Henry Ford Health System. He held various manager positions prior to being named Pharmacy Director for Health Alliance Plan. Ford Motor Company hired Tom in 2000 to manage their pharmacy benefits and contain drug costs for their worldwide employee population .
After more than a decade of working closely with the pharmaceutical industry, Tom made the decision to work in that environment. Novo Nordisk Pharmaceuticals hired Tom in 2001 as a Managed Care Account Executive. Tom received Novo's top recognition in 2002- The Vision Award and was promoted to Senior Account Executive in charge of employer group relations. While the career has been gratifying and rewarding, family is what it's all about. The "boys" have grown into men. Tis is completing his psych/business degree with hopes of using his charm and education successfully in pharmaceutical sales. Matt is earning his mechanical engineering degree and plans to make his living doing what he loves - work on cars. Our youngest, James, is planning to be a pharmacist! Jackie fills her free time with marathon training/racing and playing professionally in the Detroit Metropolitan Flute Choir (she also works as a hospital pharmacist for
St. Joseph Mercy).
