Yeah, here’s part 4. Stupid plotbunny just won’t go away… *g* HELP!
Die, plotbunnies, die! Anyways, the last twenty-six years of all of the character’s lives were reversed when they were reborn. Thirty-three years pass before Aragorn meets Legolas (again). By some bizarre twist of fate, Legolas is now a guy.
Actually, that’s because too many people complained about Legolas being a girl…
Please review or else I won’t update. ‘Nuff said.
Ages: Aragorn is 33, since that’s all that I’m going to put. He’s lived w/Elrond for his whole life.
Remember, all the characters lost their magic & memories, and any people who died were reborn again, i.e., Arwen. Although I would have liked to keep Arwen dead…
Magic isn’t everything: Part 4

Summary: N/A
Legolas galloped quickly towards Rivendell on his horse. His father had asked him to deliver a message to Elrond Half-Elven, a message of great importance. He had no clue what the letter said, but his father wouldn’t just send him off for any reason. He sighed as he rubbed his eyes. He hadn’t been sleeping well lately; constant nightmares had kept him awake. In the dreams, he was always fighting with someone by his side, but who his ally and his opponents were was impossible to distinguish.
* Perhaps my father wishes me to tell Elrond about my dreams? * He mused.
“Fire, water, earth, wood, fire, fire, water, light, earth, water, earth, wind...” Aragorn said. He was taking lessons in elven-magic from Elrond, why had been surprised but pleased at his request sixteen years ago. Right now, Elrond simply wanted him to classify a number of simple spells by type and try to combine some into double-element spells. All elves were usually born with the potential to learn magic, or even some skill, but it took years of training under a master. Up to date, there had been no single-element masters save Elrond, with the element of water. Elrond had told him a legend, though, about the five element stones- these five stones would one day appear to the five mages who were destined to be the greatest of all mages in the history of middle-earth.
“Summon Storm?” Aragorn asked, puzzled at the incantation on the list. “Is that wind or water? I can’t seem to remember…”
“Oh well. Lightning!” Aragorn said triumphantly, figuring it out. The spells might be simple to Elrond, but most elves knew wood-magic, forest communion, and it was impossible for them to do even an ‘elementary’ spell like “light ball’. As for Aragorn himself, he only knew Level 1, Level-2 and a few Level-3 spells. Level-4 was the highest, which few save Elrond and Gandalf could reach. And there was a large gap between levels 3 and 4.
However, Aragorn was determined to become a warrior-mage. He already had the warrior part down, now all he had to do was to learn magic to fit with his fighting abilities, which were excellent.
“Estel? Are you done yet?” Elrond asked as he peeked in. “It’s almost time for your history lessons.”
“Finished.” Aragorn said as he put down the list. “I think I’ll go take a quick bath before my next class.”
“Good idea.” Elrond said. “Just hurry.”
“Yes, ‘father’.” Aragorn said playfully as he ducked into the adjoining room, barely avoiding the rock that Elrond threw at him in exasperation.
Elrond left and went downstairs. He saw a rider approaching on horseback.
“Who is that?”
“Legolas, the fourth prince of Mirkwood.” Another elf remarked. “His father sent him here with a message.”
“Yes, yes. When he gets here, bring him to me.” Elrond said. “I’ll be expecting him in the Great hall.”
The elves inclined their heads.
“History is so boring…” Aragorn muttered as he rubbed his eyes.
“Estel! Pay attention!” The teacher snapped.
Aragorn looked up and stifled a sigh. It was going to be a long day…
“… So you see, my father requests your help.” Legolas finished.
“Tell him I will send my archers to aid him. The dark lord is gaining power, but without the Ring, he is still helpless.” Elrond said.
“Yes, my lord.” Legolas said, bowing. Elrond shook his head and pulled Legolas up.
“Come, Legolas, it is time for us to dine.” He said, leading him to the hall.
“Crystal Glaive!” Aragorn shouted, forming the weapon out of ice and swinging it at his opponent, who blocked with her shield.
“Aqua waterfall!” Celebrian said, laughing. “You’re getting better, Estel.”
Aragorn smiled at her. Even if she wasn’t his real mother, he still loved her. She was such a warm person.
“Oh well. Ice Stream!” Aragorn said, triumphantly freezing the waterfall. Celebrian smiled. “See?”
“Yes. It’s getting dark, though.”
“Your father is expecting you for dinner.” Celebrian said. “Come, you need to get changed.”
“All right!” Aragorn said as he used Time Flash to wind up in his room.
Aragorn and Celebrian time flashed into the dining hall, much to the surprise of the guests present. There were several scattered gasps and one lady fainted dead away.
“Estel, what did I tell you about flaunting your powers?” Elrond chided.
“Sorry, Lord Elrond.” Aragorn muttered.
“Not everyone has you gifts. It’s not good to tease people.” Elrond continued.
“It’s my fault, Elrond.” Celebrian said, stepping forward to take the blame. “I told him to flash us here since we were already late.
“Just don’t do it again.” Elrond sighed.
Aragorn was seated next to Legolas.
“Hello. I am Legolas of Mirkwood.” Legolas said.
“I’m Estel.” Aragorn said, not bothering to give his lineage, since he didn’t know it yet.
“Are you an elf?” Legolas asked, looking at Aragorn’s slightly pointy ears.
Aragorn looked down. “Only half.”
“Oh. I see. Who’s your mother?”
“I don’t know.” Aragorn admitted. “She died in childbirth. I was raised by Elrond.”
“Really?” Legolas asked in amazement.
“Yes. I don’t know why, though.”
“The way you used magic earlier – are you a full mage already?”
Aragorn laughed. “I’ve only been training for twenty years. I can only do Level-3 or lower.”
“That’s interesting.” Legolas said. He and Aragorn chatted for the rest of dinner.
For the next few weeks, Aragorn and Legolas were inseparable. They ate, slept, trained, and played together. Aragorn was starting to take a liking to the delicate but strong elven-prince. Legolas was feeling faint stirrings of the same emotion.
“Focus all your energy into as small a ball as possible.” Elrond instructed. Aragorn complied, and soon there was a small – barely visible — ball of black energy.
“Good. Now concentrate on the target.” Aragorn’s eyes snapped open as the energy sailed towards the target, hitting it in the center.
“Excellent!”
“Thank you.” Aragorn said, flushing at the praise.
Legolas watched. He wished he could learn magic too, but his father had forbidden Elrond to teach him anything, saying that it would cause danger.
“You see, you must master the element of darkness, otherwise it will control you, because it is stronger than both light and shadow.” Elrond stated.
“Yes, Lord Elrond.” Aragorn said.
“Now how about showing me your new abilities?” Elrond asked. “I’m sorry, but I’ve been busy the past week, so I sacrificed Celebrian to train with you.”
“I didn’t hurt her!” Aragorn said defensively as he prepared his magic.
“I know. At least not too much… You did break her arm once, but you healed her afterwards.”
“Well, I did learn healing abilities at Level-3.” Aragorn said.
“Good. Are you ready?” Elrond asked as he gathered his energy.
“Yes.” Aragorn said. Elrond immediately put up a Void shield to protect the courtyard from damage. Legolas watched from his tree, immensely interested.
“Freeze Flame!” Aragorn commanded, as a wave of ice-fire streaked at Elrond.
“Aquisan Shield!” Elrond says, as a shield of water and fire solidified around him, negating the attack.
“Heaven’s Fury!” Aragorn commanded, severely draining his mana but causing severe damage to Elrond and breaking his shield.
“Light
Arrow!” Elrond commanded, as several arrows of light streaked at Aragorn.
Legolas watched in horror. There was no way Aragorn could dodge that many!
“Storm Gale!” Instantly, a stream of wind grabbed Elrond and positioned him in front of Aragorn. Elrond was hit with his own arrows, but they simply vaporized as they hit him.
“Smart move, Aragorn, but you forgot I could use Recall.” Elrond said.
“Phoenix!” Aragorn commanded, as a firebird rose before him. He climbed in its back and took to the sky. “Fire Rain!”
“Time Flash!” Elrond commanded, getting himself out of there and winding up behind Aragorn. “Hurricane!”
“I give!” Aragorn said as the water surrounded him, cutting off his air. Elrond released his attack and jumped off the phoenix.
“Good job, Aragorn.” Elrond said. Aragorn looked sheepish.
Legolas had sparkly eyes. Think anime.
“He’s so talented. I wish I knew magic…”
However, soon, Legolas had to leave. Elrond had gathered a large company of archers to send to Thranduil’s aid.
“Estel, you will accompany them to Mirkwood.” Elrond said.
“All right, father.” Aragorn said. “Just let me finish packing.”
“They’re leaving tomorrow, so you’d better hurry.”
Aragorn returned to his room. He picked up his pack and put in an extra change of clothes, herbs (including athelas), a couple of bottled of restore potion (for magic), some flint, soap, shampoo, and other stuff. He didn’t have a sword, but it didn’t bother him yet. He tucked a pair of daggers into his belt and picked up his bow and arrows.
Meanwhile, Legolas was packing as well. He was glad to be going home, but he wasn’t too sure about what it would be like.
The next morning…
“Good bye!” Arwen said enthusiastically, waving from the battlements. Legolas and Aragorn both turned and waved back.
And off they rode towards Mirkwood…
“Halt! Who goes there?” An elf called.
“Oanamiimi, is that you? It is I, Legolas.”
A blonde elf jumped out of a nearby tree. “Legolas! Your father will be so pleased to see you!” Oanamiimi said.
“Yes, well, Lord Elrond has agreed to lend his aid to Rivendell.” Legolas said, indicating the Elven archers.
“Oh, good! I’ll go inform his majesty.” The elf said, jumping through the trees.
Aragorn raised his eyebrows. A while later, King Thranduil himself came out with an escort of six or seven elves. They were welcomed and led to the castle.
“Is that elf very exited, or what?” He whispered to Legolas.
“I’m not sure…”
