The Sun, the Moon, the Light, and the Night. (A story of magic, mystery, love, and revenge.) By Charlotte/Sailor Sun Note: I don't own Christine, Raoul, Erik...etc. I also DO NOT OWN CARD CAPTOR SAKURA. IT BELONGS TO CLAMP, KODASHI. I only own Charlotte, and the keys that appear in this story. This is my version of the Phantom of the Opera. What would happen if Erik had a younger sister? Hmm…. Vital Statistics: (SKIP THIS IF YOU DON’T WANT TO READ IT.) Name: Charlotte Height: 5"5 Blood Type: AB Hair Color and Style: Long wavy black hair with gold highlights that hangs to her waist. Eye Color: Dark Blue (but they change to gold when she gets angry/frightened.) Age: 20 Skills: Good with the Punjab Lasso, Sword, and Sunlight Key (Combination of the Sun key and the light key. She does not start out with this key.) She plays clarinet. Attire: Gold winged mask, white blouse and black skirt, black boots, gold trimmed white elbow gloves, black or gold cloak, and the sunlight key on a golden chain around her neck. She usually wears the blouse and skirt along with black ballet slippers and a black jacket during performances. She wears the other stuff at other times. Other info: Charlotte is Erik's younger sister (I know this is a bit odd but I'm reducing Erik's age by a lot.) She plays principal clarinet in the Orchestra of the Opera Populaire and is a really good singer (I mean with Erik giving her lessons who wouldn't be?). However, Charlotte is not a member of the chorus because she enjoys playing the clarinet more. She is very good at ventriloquism and likes to play tricks just like Erik. Also, Charlotte has a grudge against Raoul de Changy because he attempted to murder her 10 months ago and stole her light key but hasn't killed him yet because Erik doesn't let her. Charlotte specializes in light (white) magic. She and Carlotta are rivals. Sun/Light Cards: 1. Fly (wings.) 2. Try and figure out what the rest are! Vital Statistics: Name: Erik Height: 6”4 (I’m taking a guess here!) Blood Type: AB Hair Color and Style: Black hangs to his shoulders and waves inwards. Eye Color: Silvery-blue, Changes to Gold. Age: 30 Skills: Good with Punjab Lasso, Knife, and Night Key. Architect, Musician, Inventor, Composer…etc. Attire: White half mask, black evening clothes, and black velvet cloak. Other info: Erik specializes in night (black) magic. He has a personal grudge against Raoul de Changny but has not harmed him yet for Christine's sake. Good with ventriloquism, excellent musician, scientist, architect, inventor … etc. Plays tricks on the managers and demands a salary every month. Night Cards: 1. Fly (wings.) 2. Illusion (a fairy that creates illusions.) 3. Guess the rest! I dare you! Vital Statistics: Name: Christine Daáe Age: 18 Height: 5"2 Blood Type: A Hair Color and Style: Blond curly hair that hangs to her waist. Eye Color: Extremely light and clear blue. Attire: Varies. However, she always wears the moon key on a silver chain around her neck. Other Info: Christine is a very pretty chorus girl at the opera popular. She also is a ballerina. She’s a really good singer. She has the moon key but she has no clue that it is a magical talisman, since she got it from her mother. She doesn't know a thing about magic. Vital Statistics: Name: Raoul de Changny Height: 5"4 Blood Type: B Age: 21 Hair Color and Style: Sandy Blond; very short straight hair. Eye Color: Watery Blue. Attire: White Shirt, Dark Blue Pants and Jacket. Other Info: Raoul is a spoiled rich brat. He is a very poor magician. He is handsome but dumb. Raoul stole the light key from Charlotte months ago but none of the cards will obey him except for one card. Cards: 1. Glow (a fairy that looks like a firefly. Creates tiny bubbles of light. Has about 1/20 of the power of the light card.) Christine fidgeted nervously with the bow in her hair. It was her first major performance and Raoul had missed it. The nerve of him! And he had promised to take her out to dinner too. She glanced at the clock on the wall on her dressing room. Two more minutes. That was all she would give him. Raoul dashed through the pathways of the opera house, searching for Christine's dressing room. Curse that Charlotte! He thought. His horse had gone lame because he had halted it to avoid trampling her. In the act of stopping, his horse had thrown him off, resulting in an extremely undignified landing in the mud. As soon as he had wiped the mud off his face he was aware of the fact that she was holding a sword to his throat. He had mustered up all his energy and summoned the glow card to blind her for a few seconds and dashed off to the opera house. Christine instantly started, hearing her maestro's voice through the mirror. (Angel? ) She walked in front of it and was suddenly pulled through. She was dimly aware of a voice-Raoul's voice, calling her. She glanced through the mirror briefly to see him dashing around her dressing room frantically searching for her. Then she felt herself being lifted into someone's arms and fainted dead away. Erik smiled. Christine hadn't seen his mask, and she was unconscious. It was perfect. He spread his feathery black wings and flew towards the lake. When he got to the shore, he gently laid her in the bottom of his boat and started poling across the water. A few minutes later Charlotte caught up with him, golden wings still a bit ruffled from her hasty flight. “Curse that Raoul!” cried Charlotte, golden eyes flashing fire. “I could have gotten rid of him if it weren’t for that Glow Card!” “Now, now, Charlotte, you promised me not to harm him until Christine made her choice.” Said Erik. “But you don’t like him either! And what if Christine chooses him over you! Then what will I do?” Charlotte asked. “We will deal with that when we come to it. Now then, can Christine stay in the bedroom next to yours?” asked Erik. “Certainly. I will simply put a seal of Silence around my room so I won’t bother her. I will be working with my cards.” Said Charlotte. Erik placed Christine in her room and went over to his piano where he started playing the music of the night and singing. Christine woke up and approached him after seeing that the door to her room was left ajar. She shivered in the cold air and wondered where she was. “Where am I?” asked Christine in bewilderment. Erik turned around and smiled quietly. “You are in the labyrinth beneath the Paris Opera House.” Christine stared at him, taking in his black wings and attire. “Are you my angel of music?” “Yes.” Said Erik, smiling kindly at her. “I shall have to take you back up soon. Until then, do you mind staying here?” Christine shook her head, still feeling dizzy. Shouldn’t angels live in heaven? Was she dead and unaware of that fact? Charlotte smiled and then frowned at her watch. Shoot, it was almost time for the orchestra rehearsal. She ran out of her room and accidentally bumped into Christine. Christine stared at Charlotte before Charlotte realized her golden wings were still outspread. She quickly recalled the Fly card, removed her cloak, boots, and gloves, threw on her black jacket and ballet slippers, and quickly threw another card into the air. “Swift! I need to get to the rehearsal now!” In a flash she vanished. “Oh my goodness.” Said Christine, pressing a hand to her mouth. “Is she an angel also?” “Yes, that is my younger sister Charlotte, angel of light.” Said Erik, his lips curving into a slight smile. “B-but I know her. She plays an instrument in the orchestra.” “Of course. She stays here as a musician.” Said Erik. Christine took another look at him. “A-are you the phantom of the opera?” “Yes. I am also known to some as the opera ghost.” Christine stifled a scream. She had heard horror stories from Meg Giry about the opera ghost, but looking at the angel before her, decided that they were just stories and breathed a sigh of relief. Erik watched her with concern. She looked a bit faint-perhaps he should get his smelling salts. Fortunately, Christine recovered within minutes and stared at him. “I shall have to take you back up soon.” said Erik, “but until then, would you like to stay with me?” Christine nodded. Erik decided to give Christine a music lesson to pass the time. Unfortunately, up in the upper levels of the Opera house, all was not well in the world. Raoul had been searching the corridors when Charlotte had suddenly appeared in front of him, resulting in a nasty shock. Charlotte had thrown a bunch of stardust at Raoul and run off. Raoul shook his head and wondered just where she came from. A trapdoor maybe? Possible, but the idea was highly unlikely. A few hours later… Charlotte returned, looking very unhappy. “The managers were asking everybody for information on Christine. They’re frantic. Also, Carlotta has declared vengeance on Christine and Raoul tried to run me through with his sword.” Erik looked a bit worried and Christine looked positively shocked. She fainted dead away. Erik hurriedly produced his smelling salts and held them beneath her nose. When Christine awakened, she found herself lying on the bed in her room. “Raoul tried to kill you?” she asked. Charlotte nodded as she twirled something around in one hand. Christine took a good look. It looked like string or rope of some sort, surely not…(Could it possibly be the Punjab Lasso?!) Christine thought. Erik walked in at the moment and went over to Christine’s side. “Are you all right?” he asked, concern evident in his voice. “Yes. I think so. Raoul tried to kill her?” asked Christine, terror evident in her voice. “Unfortunately yes. Raoul doesn’t like Charlotte for some reason, although I don’t know why.” Said Erik. (Actually, I do, but I don’t want to worry Christine right now.) “But don’t worry. She’s perfectly capable of taking care of herself.” “Now what about Carlotta? Why is she so angry with me? I mean, I simply took her place since she didn’t have an understudy.” Asked Christine, being the naïve girl that she was. Erik laughed. “Because Carlotta knows that you’re a much better singer than she is, and she’s afraid.” Said Erik. “And she’s jealous.” Said Charlotte, piping up. Christine looked perplexed. Erik and Charlotte sighed. “Never mind.” Said Charlotte. “But I need to take you up now. The managers are making a fuss.” Charlotte made a face. She took Christine’s hand and they exited Erik’s lair. Now, Joseph Buquet was just showing the ballet girls how to defend themselves against the Punjab lasso when a trapdoor suddenly opened up at his feet. He was shocked to see Christine emerge, accompanied to someone in a cloak and a mask. Just then, a rope whipped out and he saw no more as the blissful darkness enveloped him. When Madame Giry arrived, she saw Buquet lying on the floor. Being the prudent woman that she was, she immediately checked his pulse. Satisfied that he was not dead, she left him there and quickly proceeded to the manager’s office. When she got there, she could hear loud, angry voices issuing from the door. “I won’t allow it!” Carlotta screeched, her high voice shrill. “How dare you allow this arrogant little upstart to take my place in Ill Muto! I won’t allow it! I will not sing for you unless you personally flush out that ‘ghost’ and dismiss this girl!” She was rather frantic, moving back and forth in a huff. Andre and Firmin were rather unsuccessful at their attempts to calm her down. Christine was sitting quietly in a corner. Raoul was trying to be protective, but it wasn’t working. Just then, Erik’s voice filled the room. “Christine Daaé has returned to you. And I am anxious that her career should progress…………………………. And put Ms. Daaé in the role of Countess……. ………… Should these demands be ignored, a disaster beyond your imagination will occur.” Erik finished. (There! That should make them more reasonable.) “They’re still going to cast Carlotta as Countess, regardless of whatever we do.” Said Charlotte. (She had gotten back to the lair after delivering Christine.) She tapped her fingers against the teacup she was holding. “So…it is up to us to ensure that Christine gets that part.” She stood up suddenly, as her eyes lit up. “And I’ve got the perfect plan…” Charlotte quickly ran off to find Erik. Christine looked at her reflection sadly. “It would be so wonderful to be cast as Countess, but I would never get the role. Carlotta always was the diva and always will be. But I wish, that just once, I would have a chance.” Christine was understandably surprised when a voice said. “But you will have the chance, and you will get the role. Carlotta is a toad who puts true musicians to shame.” “Angel?” Christine asked, looking around. “Don’t worry. Hush, and dry your tears. We have much practicing to do before the performance.” Said Erik. Christine got up and walked to the mirror, as it swung in and Erik caught her in his arms. “Now my dear, shall we go?” He gave her his arm and led her down through the labyrinthine passages until they reached his house. Raoul got to Christine’s dressing room five minutes later. “Christine? Where are you? Darling?” He looked around, but was soon assured that the room was empty. “How does she disappear like this, without any warning?” Raoul searched, convinced that there was a secret to this place, but, try as he might, could not find a passage anywhere. Idiot that he was, he never considered the mirror as an option. Carlotta was ‘practicing’ in her dressing room, trying to hit impossibly high notes with that hellish voice of hers. Suddenly, she heard a voice laughing. “Who’s there?!” She cried, frightened and angry all at once. “Show yourself!” “My dear sweet Carlotta, I think you should put some heavier clothes on.” Was the only reply. “What?!” Carlotta asked. “Because, standing outside in a snowstorm dressed like this is not a good idea.” Was the only thing she heard, before there was a raging blizzard inside her room. Within minutes, she was up to her knees in ice and snow. Laughter could be heard ringing through the corridors. Charlotte grinned. (It serves that annoying harpy right!) she thought. With a smile, she returned the Blizzard card to her pocket and headed down to Erik’s house. Weeks passed. The night of “Ill Muto” drew steadily closer. Erik and Charlotte were already working on the final details of their prank to beat all pranks and humiliate Carlotta before all of Paris. Christine was blissfully unaware of this. It was a good thing she hadn’t known, or else she might have told Raoul. That night… Christine was applying her final touches of makeup. Charlotte was down in the orchestra pit with her clarinet. Erik has high above the stage on the catwalks. Raoul was sitting in box 5. The managers were in box 4. Madame Giry was yelling at the ballet girls. Joseph Buquet was also above the stage. Carlotta was drinking some nasty herbal tea. Piangi was waiting in the wings. And the conductor was missing. The performance started out fine, until Erik decided to give Raoul a piece of his mind. “Did I not instruct that box 5 was to be kept EMPTY?” he asked. Christine shivered as Raoul turned red. “Quiet!” shouted Carlotta as she continued singing. Just then, croaks started being heard. Erik smiled a bit as he got the Punjab Lasso ready. Charlotte concentrated as she closed her eyes. Suddenly, the chandelier began to swing-and swing- and- swing. The lights flickered as people screamed. Erik’s voice rang out. “Madame Carlotta is singing tonight to bring down the chandelier!” He cried, as there was a final swing and then a CRASH! Carlotta screamed and fainted. Piangi ran down to get her. Christine had been unhurt, since Erik had placed an impenetrateable barrier around her. Christine looked at the ceiling in shocked horror. Then, another scream was heard. All the chorus girls and ballet dancers looked up to see Joseph Buquet’s lifeless body hanging by a rope. Christine could take no more and fainted. Erik quickly spread darkness over the theatre, as he picked up Christine and teleported back to his lair. He lay her down on her bed and went to get his smelling salts. Meanwhile, Charlotte had returned. She had a strange smile on her face. Erik couldn’t comprehend it, but he had other matters to attend to, so he didn’t pay it any attention. The next day, Charlotte sneaked out of the Opera House and into Paris. The headline in all the newspapers was “Viscount de Chagny killed in Opera Accident!” Of course, no one but her knew the truth. It had been too dark for Raoul to see, so she had simply slipped behind him and plunged her sword through his ribs, killing him instantly. Then, she had conjured up falling mortar to explain the ‘accidental death’. Charlotte smiled as she watched Christine and Erik together. “Oh! Raoul is dead!” Christine cried. Charlotte kept her face emotionless rather easily. Erik comforted her as best he could, while shooting glances at Charlotte, who looked perfectly innocent. After a week, Christine had recovered significantly and there was definitely something developing between her and Erik. Charlotte wisely stayed out of their way- it wouldn’t be good if she caught them kissing- and minded her own business. With Raoul out of the way, Christine ended up with Erik. They were soon married. And somewhere in the darkness, Charlotte laughed. Completed and created 5/24/01 (Wow this is *old*... and the writing sucks too...)
