Sarah Brightman

Sarah was born on the 14th August 1961- which makes her 38 years young.
She took her ballet lessons very seriously as a child because her ambition was to become a ballet dancer. It was, however, not her ballet which first made her famous. In 1978, she hit the UK music scene in 'Hot Gossip' with the top ten single- 'I lost my heart to a starship trooper'. Her next major triumph was landing a part in 'Cats' three years later. Her marraige to the composer of 'Cats'- Andrew Lloyd Webber, followed shortly after, in 1984.

The marraige was to last for six years, during which period Sarah won roles in 'Masquerade', and 'Nightingale', sang in the televisied version of Andrew Lloyd Webber's 'Song and Dance'. She also sang a role in 'the merry widow' and performed Andrew Lloyd Webber's Requiem many times.

Next came Sarah's most memorable role: Christine in 'The Phantom Of The Opera' which was reportedly, written especially for her by Andrew Lloyd Webber. She performed the role in London, and later on Broadway. Three of the songs from the musical ('The Phantom Of The Opera' ,'All I Ask Of You' and 'Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again') made it into the UK top ten music charts.
She then toured with the concert production of' The Music Of Andrew Lloyd Webber' and played the lead role of Rose in 'Aspects of Love'- composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber.
At this time, no-one could doubt that she ws indeed a very talented woman- but people began to wonder if her career could survive without Andrew Lloyd Webber.
Sarah's next project was with opera singer José Carreras- singing the hit single 'Friends for life (Amigos para siempre)'- which was again written by Andrew Lloyd Webber.
However, Sarah proved all the critics wrong with appearances in 'Trelawny of the wells' and 'Relative Values'. Sarah then continued to perform in Australia, Canada and America, to name but a few countries, and then recorded the single 'Time To Say Goodbye (Con Te Partiro)' with Andrea Bocelli- the blind Tuscan tenor. The single reportedly went platinum five times.
Her most recent single, 'Timeless' rose high in the UK music charts.
