Mme. Giry

Monsieur, believe me, I intend no ill, but Messieurs be careful, we have seen him kill...

Madame Giry is the ballet mistress, and Meg's mother. She seems to have an affiliation with the 'Opera Ghost' or the Phantom, as he is called by the ballet girls. We later find out, when Raoul questions her, that she saw the phantom at a travelling fair when she was younger. "And there was... I shall never forget him: a man.... locked in a cage..." , but the phantom escaped. "And then.... he went missing. He escaped." Madame Giry also seems to know about the Punjab lasso, and of the house on the lake, the phantom's lair, as she takes Raoul there and warns him to "raise your hand to the level of your eyes., which is the preventative measure taken, to protect yourself from the Punjab lasso. She is also accused of working in league with the Phantom, as is Christine.
